While we plug away on internal milestones, valued community member VanMavus offered to conduct a series of Q+A sessions, drawing the Q's from his own curiosity and the community's, with Warshop developers such as myself.

Currently there are two Q+A's up, the first one with me, Terranup16, and the second with our Art Director, Shigee. I'll keep everyone here updated on when new Q+A's are posted and of course with any other major updates that come along as well.

Ok, ok... so we don't have any logo art or anything yet to accompany this announcement. However, I felt it more vital to convey this information as immediately as possible than to delay it in favor of allowing pretty art to accompany it (though I will edit this post as soon as we have that or will just drop in a few other goodies instead ;)).

So, the Wartide development team now has a name. That is, of course, the big news. But, what's in a name and what do we hope to accomplish with this that we could not previously?

One major reason for adopting a new (or actual, depending on how you look at things) name is that we now have two, separate projects under development (both based on the Sakura engine). Obviously, "Wartide Development Team" is no longer fitting. But beyond that simple issue, we wish to establish ourselves and our aims in a manner that transcends Wartide.

As a company, our emphasis is on providing to our fellow gamers quality PC games that emphasize simulational realism combined with accessibility that allows such to be enjoyably approachable and a heavy community focus that mappers and modders will wholly appreciate. In providing such games, we are also looking to leverage the open nature of the PC platform and our independent status to explore new business and distribution models for our games that take better advantage of the PC as a gaming platform and that grant our users a superior experience. I can say with certainty that we fully intend for our consumers to have a completely free experience with Wartide, and I feel that speaks pointedly of our business intentions.

As Warshop Studios, we will strive to innovate in both the areas of gameplay and business to satisfy our users to the fullest possible extent.

To further define the core ideals behind Warshop Studios, I will establish a blog upon our site- a blog I will also repost here. Until then, stay tuned here for additional announcements and check-out our forums to give us your thoughts on this announcement.

Imo, the most realistic rendition of a multiplayer first person shooter set in World War 2 at a completely unbeatable price.

"Free" FPS fun. Imo, definitely worth checking-out as it's a really good example of how fun, high-quality games can be produced "even with" free-to-play distribution models. I'll personally be looking very deeply into how this does from a financial standpoint as imo we are in a transitionary period as far as distribution models go and I feel that free-to-play and ad-based distribution models are the future of PC gaming.

Plus, the game is damn good. It makes me seriously question why the hell I paid $50 for Call of Duty 4 and yet get this for free.

Not to mention, the game runs like a dream and sports looks that fit the role they need to perfectly (and currently with the settings, AA, AF, etc... cranked to max, the game looks much, MUCH better than it does in the screenshots you'll see)- and they scale really well (like Battlefield: Heroes really well, so anyone reading this should be able to play the game).
