Yesterday NTA posted a topic named "Some evidences..", talking about that this whole "Oh, no! AIW is going to be shut down!" is most likely a joke.

He also stated some of his thoughts and things he thinks that may count as evidence.

I have to disagree with him because we lost many people already. People who stopped playing, bought the original game or even started playing the Teknogods version.
This is just one of my thoughts, which may be wrong and may be not.
