The humble origins of this group.

Released in 2007, 15 years after Wolfenstein's first transdimensional step for man, TimeShift took the shooter genre into the 4th dimension, letting users bend time to their will. It's unique mechanic was more than a gimmick, as the game's entire engine was designed around it. TimeShift technologically rivalled games like Crysis, but sadly it was met with poor sales and was all but forgotten about, largely due to being released only a month after some mild, 360-exclusive rip off that also featured a guy in a robot suit finishing the fight and stuff that was a lot of people's childhoods.

But enough about bad games!

While TimeShift's single player campaign is already fantastic in its own right, the real genre-defining attraction is the multiplayer. Think Quake meets Max Payne. Fast paced gunfights slow down to a crawl as time slows down. A wall of projectiles build up, ready to annihilate anyone unlucky enough to be standing in front of them when time restarts. A marksman lines up his crossbow for a shot, only to have it reflected in to his eye and crack his monitor screen when time reverses.

Nothing else compares.

Although GameSpy was shut down back in 2014, thanks to the open-source server emulator OpenSpy, and the efforts of CHReeeeeeeeeee and others, this masterpiece can once again be experienced online.
