Play it until you get bored. It's worth the price. Once you start pushing high havoc you will optimise all the fun out of the game.

In its current state, I cannot recommend the game to the majority of people for the following reasons:

Net issues... teammates disconnect constantly, bosses don't spawn, enemies die 3 seconds late... this happens in approx. 33% of games.

Censorship... I guess the "ho" in Athos, or "ass" in "Nasser" are too much... it's crude, it's poorly done and absolutely unnecessary.

Technical issues... The game freezes occasionally for up to 5 seconds, game is locked to 60 fps. Misses lots of QoL.

Bindings... They are awful by default, and the game loves to mess with your two-handing states.

UI Design... Seals and Staves come with 2 spells, you better remember the second one your catalyst has... because it doesn't show on non-inventory UI.

Progression... Higher difficulty bosses are on weekly rotation, relics are RNG-fest... if only they would allow for re-rolling of relic abilities/crafting them together etc...

There are of course some positive things... the sound design is great, the bosses look cool, characters have fun gimmicks, I appreciate the relative depth of weapon movesets, lots of visuals are top-notch... Shame you won't get to enjoy them much, frantically sprinting across Limveld, trying to squeeze that one more boss before the night begins.

It seems like the devs lost the touch that made Dying Light 1 so good. It’s full to the brim with useless collectibles that are supposed to keep you busy. So many incremental gains in exchange for smashing the same glowing rock 50 times in a dark zone. A plethora of random materials that don’t feel impactful to obtain. Random incremental stat increases on gear.. get a grip.

Combat somehow also feels worse.

Story? I’m not saying the first game was peak, but it was serviceable. Yes, it had some painfully single-dimensional characters and personalities that were borderline throwaway jokes. However, it felt like the first game had soul. This does not.

I very much liked the art direction and theming, however....

The voice acting drags the game down quite a bit.

The final bossfight felt unpolished and more like a battle of attrition.

Half the checkpoints seemed redundant, as neither the parkour nor combat felt particularly challenging.

Majority of my playtime was spent cracking puzzles and running around frantically trying to find progression.

Music and sound design was spot on tho.

Overall, 4/10

This game does not deserve Mixed reviews.
It accumulated them from an absolutely botched release schedule, no custom key binds on release and poor performance that has now been improved.
This game is not perfectly balanced, but it is absolutely beautiful, with stunning level design, decent enough enemy variety (compared to other games like Lords of the Fallen) and unique ways how to play a soulslike due to the way one can build their character.

The new menus are absolutely awful, it takes several minutes just to select a loadout.
