Alva Majo really spoke of not having enough control over your character in Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy then proceeded to make a game where you are resigned to watching helplessly as you tumble from the summit all the way to the beginning of the game if you touch the wall

This is yet again another great addition to the Myst series. This game allows you to finally look around in a full 3D view, which at first I was skeptical of. However, as I continued with the game, I grew to enjoy the new freedom of view. It did not hinder gameplay as I thought it might (by causing you to miss things because you did not look in the correct direction), and it added immensely to the immersion. I feel the game was rather short in retrospect, however I feel that is often the case with the Myst games. A lot of the time spent in-game is poring over your clues and piecing them together for a solution.

One disappointment, however, was how straightforward some of the puzzles were. There were quite a few puzzles, as I remember, that had either an immediately obvious solution or one that required minimal digging. It is entirely possible, however, that I was looking in the correct places at the correct times to find the exact hints I needed.

Overall, I would say that Myst III: Exile is a must-play for any Myst fan. The story is interesting, the puzzles are difficult yet intuitive, and the ambiance held true to that of the rest of the series. I could not recommend this game more.

The Myst series presents such an amazing atmosphere and lore time and time again, never ceasing to impress me. The somber, solitary pensiveness of the first of the Myst series is eerie and surreal, and the second game in the Myst series - Riven - not only continues, but fully adopts this atmosphere. This game provides an expansion on not only overall size of the game, but scale of the major puzzles. Riven contains puzzles that are much more challenging than those of Myst, but never fails to provide a sense of reward to the player in their accomplishments. The game starts out by hurling the player into a vast new world separated into several distinct islands, most of which are readily available from the very beginning. This initial plunge can be very easily overwhelming, as many of the things you learn are not even used until much later. However, I feel that the immediate access to each of the islands provides much greater world-building. You are allowed to peruse each of the odd structures on the islands to gain an overall sense of Riven's culture, current state, and possibly gain some hints into the lore. Much later, you then learn of the supporting lore.

Riven, when compared to Myst, is a worthy successor and quite honestly an improvement upon what is slowly becoming my favorite game series. I hope to find the same enjoyment in the rest of the Myst games, and I hope you do too.

Early Access Review
Have you ever had a nightmare where you are being chased, but cannot will your legs to run away? If, for whatever reason, you have not had that experience, you certainly will feel the same when you are starting out this game. After that statement, you are most likely wondering why I am recommending this game if I feel that way. It is because I absolutely love and I cannot stress this enough LOVE the combat in this game. Starting out, fighting some miscreant with a 2x4 suddenly feels like a Herculean task, and you will get your ass kicked. A lot. Like I cannot overstate how many times you will die. Having said that, once you overcome the difficulty curve a little bit, and start accumulating more gear, you will build confidence in your ability. You start slashing zombies in the head, killing them with one blow. I currently am at the mid-point in the game where the difficulty certainly ramps, and I am rebuilding that confidence in fighting off the new enemies I am facing. But, I am not discouraged, as I know I will enjoy the experience ahead just the same as I have with the rest.

Because I just threw a ton at you, and most people probably haven't even read that; here are some pros and cons.

Pros:
- Fun
- Intuitive Combat that seems clunky at first but becomes better than any other combat in other games as your skill rises
- Keeps you on edge at all times, especially at earlier levels

Cons:
- Difficult to get used to the combat (this may turn away some people and keep people from enjoying the game, but don't be discouraged)
- You kind of have to have a torch with you at all times up until a certain point
- Requires some semblance of navigational skills or just taking the time to write stuff down

All in all, I could not recommend this game enough to somebody who likes a challenge. It will take some time to get used to, but it certainly pays off. The main reason for this is that the game gives you a guide book and complete control of your character, and it is like your first time walking all over again. But later on, once you put all of the mechanics together, you can completely wreck house. - 10/10

Edit: As of this edit, I have 66.5 hours into the game. It is easy to say that this is my favorite game, and it's only in early access! I cannot imagine how good Sui Generis will be, and cannot wait for future updates on Exanima. Once again, I could not recommend this game more, especially for the price.

Definitely better than Fallout 1, but I'm not sure if it's because I have acquired a taste for the original Fallout games and understand the mechanics.

Plus, y'know, there isn't a set amount of time you have to beat the game in, as far as I know.
