The combat is better than the first game and I want to like the game, but it just felt like I was being strung along the entire time with no clear goal or objective and as such I didn't feel as attached to any particular character other than Sam and Irvine. Also Lucy just being gooner bait is funny.

This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The concept is cool with the cart and more open setting, but I've run into nothing but problems as dedicated group host in my friend group. It is worse than lethal in the capacity you can go lengthy periods of time being dead and the general unintuitiveness of the gameplay. Had a friend that gifted everyone on their friends list this and I genuinely feel bad I can't refund it.

This remake is well worth it as someone who played the original. I played Risk of Rain (after playing ror2 to be clear) and while as much as I wanted to like it the game just had weird quirks that are annoying if you started with the second game like having to kill every enemy on the stage before proceeding or not being able to move while attacking. I appreciated the removal of these but if for some reason you dont you can just re-enable them in the game settings if you want. You can even pick and choose what you want on or off. It also adds new items (also toggleable) and new survivors, some from risk of rain 2 and some completely original ones which I really like. I always find myself playing this over ror2.

Anyways tldr; game good get game, I guarantee if you have ptsd of ror1 its not here anymore or fixed

I really love the core gameplay of this game. Everything seems well balanced from what I could tell. I liked most of the story but nearing the end it was a little weak, I think some things should have been swapped around from when they happened and maybe even made it where you control both parties at once in the final dungeons. I enjoyed it more than Like a dragon (Yakuza 7) and still think that infinite wealth is better overall, however I wish the story was a bit more impactful at the end.

I give it a 9.5/10 over majority of the game and the final chapter drops to 8/10. Use your own judgement though.

I played the free weekend trial a while ago and i loved the game but my friend had some weird audio issues that couldnt be solved because of hardware reasons. While it is an unreal problem it still sucks. Other than that we had lots of fun and if it were slightly cheaper or had a multi-copy bundle or something it would be a instant buy as everything was great.

This game goes hard. I did like 50% of the game and it took 54 hours (for me) to complete the main story. The combat is engaging, the music slaps, and the story is great though but there are some pacing issues around chapters 9-10 imo but its not a dealbreaker. One thing though is that sometimes it feels as if you are overleveled, I just wish the game in general was slightly harder. There is pretty much only one difficulty spike that I can think of which if you have played the game you know about but its a really cool fight so I'll give it the pass. Also the game has like 5 other half games inside of it which is a little crazy.
You can play this game without playing the previous ones, you just might be a little confused when the game makes a semi-big deal about returning characters.
