im somewhat critical of Ridiculon's soundtrack for BoI:R. it does its job pretty well as background music and has a unique enough sonic palette. but compared to the original Isaac's iconic OST by Danny Baranowski, its just not memorable enough. i never find myself humming the Rebirth songs to myself, and i dont find myself excited when certain tracks come on during the game.

this OST has fixed that issue. not only is the style even more unique for a video game, but the songs are just so. unbelievably. catchy.
every waking moment im not playing the game (of which there are currently few), they are playing in my head on repeat. it is tortorous. its a phenomenal soundtrack that has further cemented Mewgenics as my game of the year already.

it was daunting to start this game after hearing so much astronomical praise for it. what if im one of the five or so people on earth this doesnt resonate with?
luckily that fear was immediately washed away by the stellar opening sequence, and it only gets better from there.
all the praise is true. it is, without a doubt, one of the greatest games ever made. it brought me to tears numerous times, the iconic characters will stick with me forever, and i look forward to my next several playthroughs almost as much as i look forward to my grandchildren's first.

PS: ♥♥♥♥ ZA/UM. do not give them your money. none of it will reach the creators.

if Balatro and Inscryption had a baby, it would look a lot like Clover Pit.
if you like those two games, this one is a no-brainer.

Early Access Review
2 hours into my first run, i found myself chasing sparkling fairies in a dark research facility overrun by monsters.

everything up until this point was apocalyptic, scary, ominous, intriguing, but also hilarious and fun.
i was having a blast with my friends figuring out the interesting survival mechanics, exploring the excellently designed levels, and piecing together the very engaging story.

but then this moment happened, and i was running after glittery sprites that suddenly appeared at night, while my friends where off doing something else.
and it was during these 10 minutes that i just started crying. crying from an overwhelming sense of childlike wonder, as i was curiously uncovering the many layers in this beautifully constructed world.

i wanted the answers, i wanted to understand what was happening in this facility, but each time i thought i caught one of the mysterious lights, hoping it would illuminate my confusion, it slipped through my fingers again,
and so i had to keep chasing for the answers.

this game is special. it has so many great ideas and was made with so much love and attention to detail.
please try it, preferably with some friends. i have barely scratched the surface and i am already blown away.
