I've played through this game 3 times now and this game gets better every single time i play it. The first two were on normal and the hardest difficulty but that just wasnt enough for me so i went and installed the MISERY mod to get the real ball busting experience.

How does one describe the greatest game ever made? is it the story? the world building? the game mechanics? the difficulty and responsibilities the game gives you to manage? the innumerable ways to play the game? For all of those questions i would tell you to look no further than the Stalker franchise. If ever a game was to be the flag ship of PC gaming THIS is the game that people should look at in reverence and awe.

Games of today hold your hand, coddle you and all but tube feed you because they dont trust you to anything intelligent with their property....no mods, tutorials for everything and a streamlined experience so that nobody strays too far from the course like some sort of amusement park ride. The Stalker games fly in the face of all of that and rewards you for being different and when everything that can go wrong does...finding your own way to survive in the Zone.

Finding secret stashes, managing your limited resources, risking your life in Anomolies (elemental effects like acid, fire, wind and the like) and doing perilous quests that arent for the foolhardy. You arent John Rambo and you dont run around with a fully automatic LMG shooting wildly like in most modern games. This game cements my love and facination with the true Survival Horror games like the original Resident Evil series before they started taking steroids.

You are just one man with fear in his heart, a deathgrip on your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ beaten up shotgun, a dream of seeing a rusted ship you call home and only a fistfull of shotgun shells to guide your way back in pitch black darkness.

This game is the most liberating feeling knowing that your life is in your hands and at any moment a mutant could two shot you from behind.....you live by the ability to stay level headed and just how many rounds you have left in your gun(s). This game is my pride and joy please at least try playing it its well worth $20.

See you in the Zone, Stalker...
