Early Access Review
I have played DayZ mod for a very long time, pretty much from the beginning. I had loads of fun, met many friends and repeatedly stayed long hours, thinking that I will play 'just 5 more minutes'.

DayZ Standalone was supposed to be a step-up from the limited engine of Arma II. It was supposed to give us more options, more resources and a completely new degree of fun.
In the first few months, despite the game being in Early Access, I have indeed had lot of fun playing it with friends. The clothing system, new animations and engine, it all proved to be something new and exciting.
Unfortunately, after a month of playing heavily, we stopped. Why ? Because the game was repetitive, and stagnant. The many updates and new resources promised by the game creators turned out to be lies, and dreams.

Sadly, the devs let us down many times. The grand plans, the groundshaking ideas they spouted, turned out to be nothing more than empty promises. In a way, they reminded me of Peter Molyneux. He too promised grand games, great dreams, that in the end turned out to be nothing more than pipe dreams.

The game is very taxing on computers, and the graphical fidelity is very lacking. The open world is... empty. There was once a time, when the zombies were removed for a few months. Dayz, a zombie game - without zombies.
The bugs are plenty, the updates slow, and the devs unresponsive.
Honestly, with how long the updates take, it seems that the full game will come out in maybe... 20 years ?

Buy only at your own risk.
