The game as a whole is just your standard friendslop fare, and it's pretty rough in a lot of areas for an early access game. I can put it above Lethal Company because at least you can deal with most enemies and they have the same limitations as you, but everything else is just lacking. You can't even jump.

Just pick up REPO until they add more stuff (or modders do).

There are many things that hurt this game and I really gave it a chance, but it wasn't enough for me.

First of all, the game has excellent art, but the presentation, the way everything and everyone bounces when they speak and move in battle is just too silly and cheap. And some actions move too fast to actually appreciate the spritework, but everything moves so fast and snappy you could add Johnny Test's whip sound effect and would fit right in.

Then the music, some songs are fine, but hearing so many generic tracks while fighting monsters (and even Cthulhu himself) is just so... uninspired. Not only they decided to be cheap with the animations, the music also sounds really cheap. Shoutout to the bone breaking sound effect though, that one gives me negative ASMR and I love it (I really do, not being sarcastic here).

And finally, the gameplay. At first it starts slow, and stays slow for a good while. And even after unlocking some new cards and facilities, the combos you can do with your deck are pretty limited and many cards have drawbacks that simply aren't worth the risk. So you won't be able to experiment too much and have a crazy deck, and coming from games like Library of Ruina and Touhou: Lost Branch of Legend where you can fine tune almost everything to your liking and have fun breaking the game or trying crackhead combinations, this game simply doesn't have that and will feel stale way sooner than later.

Early Access Review
After playing for a while (95% modded) I can't recommend this game in good faith. While I'm completely aware and, honestly, completely on board with the idea of enemies being way overpowered for the most part in comparison to players, there are several points that this becomes more annoying and outright frustrating rather than scary or a reasonable punishment for your mistakes.

You see, you're encumbered with the game being "realistic" but only with the player and not with the monsters running inside the moons. What I mean by this, many monsters outright bypass hazardous areas without a problem and at full speed, unaffected by falls, doors, traps, and sometimes even walls. And this wouldn't be much of a problem if at least you had a way to hide from enemies, but it feels like the developer said "♥♥♥♥ it" and made most enemies completely aware of your position regardless of what you do and they'll simply walk in a straight line to get you.

The content is scarce, updates don't come fast enough and when they do, they break mods, and said mods do the heavy lifting to revitalize the experience a whole lot more (especially scrap, interiors and moons) than the few morsels the dev is giving us.

In short, if you want friendslop, there are better games out there right now.

Well, to be honest, this is more roguelite slop, BUT I have to give unending praise to the developer because the selection of music is absurdly good, but most of all, how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ satisfying the combat is.

Pick either Mokou or Flandre, and you can piledrive or chokeslam critters and other Touhou characters against the floor. The sound effects are awesome, and it's so fun to use.

I'd buy it at a discount, is not that expensive (at least here in LATAM), but I would love to see this developer take this gameplay and try to tweak it a bit, maybe try to make a Touhou flavored hack n' slash or beat'em up with more combo routes and maybe a little more depth to it.

7/10, would chokeslam Patchouli again.

This game had the chance to be really good, but there's one crucial factor that drags it back and makes the experience completely annoying to play: the controls.

THE GAME DOESN'T EXPECT YOU TO FIGHT. The best way to go around this game is by hiding, holding onto your resources as much as possible, because if you get spotted by an alien, they'll launch a hunt and search endlessly for you until the hunt is done. Fighting against the aliens just makes everything worse because the aggression level keeps rising with each second you spend provoking the hive. This is all well and good, and in fact, you have several ways to get rid of the hunt (some ways waste resources, others require you to have access to an elevator), but what makes this so frustrating then?

Basically, you control a squad of marines. No, you don't control each soldier in the squad, you control all the squad at once. If the game was about dispatching aliens and fighting head on, I would understand this control scheme, but since this game relies so much on being stealthy and careful, not being able to control each individual soldier to hide or wait on a specific spot, or hell, send the most weak soldiers to the back of the group is not possible at all. You don't know how many times I lost a soldier because for some reason, the most injured one had to go ahead and lead the group instead of letting the healthy ones handle the heat first.

tl;dr, the controls don't work well with the mechanics of the game. It's doable, but it'll be frustrating and it'll lose its fun factor really early on.

Momma didn't raise a quitter, so I sat through the pain and finished the game despite having my guts rearranged again and again and again.

SO. The graphics are fantastic, it goes very well with the fairy tale aesthetic, and the music ain't too shabby either. The song of the fire Hamlet reminded me so much of several soundtracks made by Capcom back in the SNES days.

Now, why I don't recommend this game? Look, not gonna lie to you, I never played the OG game back then, only Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts for the SNES, and yet, this remake became frustrating to play because it feels like nothing is built around Arthur's (many, so many) limitations. He's slow, he has a very short amount of projectiles he can throw, his hitbox is not that small and no double jump? You almost need to send Arthur a fax to make him move.

The game has a healthy amount of checkpoints to balance out the misery, and well, there's the magic system that is worthless unless you stick with the game long enough to unlock the better perks of it, but honestly? I didn't have much fun with this game even with all that. The challenge presented in this game is not fun and the moment this game gave me the second run ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to unlock the true ending, I just uninstalled it.

I'm more of a Classicvania type of fellow after all.

I've played the original Raidou Kuzunoha Vs. The Soulless Army way back then on the PS2, and let me tell you, this is one of the best remakes (no, it's not a remaster, if the game still played like the OG and only had better resolution, then it would be called a remaster, this is a full-on remake) Atlus ever put on Steam.

This is an action RPG if you don't like SMT's turn based combat, and it is pretty similar to Raidou Kuzunoha Vs. King Abaddon, but a lot more faster and snappier.

The plot is really interesting and it actually has some ties to mainline SMT (back when Atlus didn't rely on that Amala bullcrap all the time) and the main cast is lovable and enjoyable.

Buy it, it is worth your money, and it would be nice to see Atlus actually trying to revive the Devil Summoner franchise.

Coming from Lobotomy Corporation and Library of Ruina to a gacha game is really rough.

Since this game is a gacha, I can't recommend it. While it isn't as predatory as many other gacha games, any kind of game that limits the player with things like energy, tokens and pulls doesn't feel right to recommend.

The plot is good, the music is great, the gameplay is... alright, and the cast is likeable, but the pacing is horrible thanks to its gacha nature, and if you're not a fan of reading complementary material to understand some stuff, you won't be able to understand some characters outside of surface lvel.

There's nothing more cruel than turning the sequel of a game you liked into a gacha, and a canon game no less, not a mere spinoff. But if you like PM's universe just like me and you want to deal with all that gacha stuff, at least I have to give some praise to it:

-Unlike many gachas, you don't have to deal with senseless amounts of materials out of nowhere to upgrade your characters. A character only needs three things: Level Up Tickets, Thread and Shards. Tickets are self explanatory, Thread is used to uptie your character to unlock passives and new skills, and Shards are used to get to Uptie 4, but you can also use Shards to unlock characters for free without pulling. Those three materials are easy to get just by playing the game normally.
-If you're a new player and an event is happening, you still get to claim the prizes and rewards without spoiling yourself, unlike many other gachas where you're forced to skip tons of chapters just to be able to participate.
-No equipment system.
-This gacha in particular doesn't feel as overwhelming as many others thanks to two reasons: One, Limbus Company's world is already set thanks to previous games and books, so playing the games in order actually helps you understand things better without having to chow down tons of concepts and convoluted plot points from the get go. And two, PM is a relatively small studio, so the amount of content present at this point is not excessive.

Not only is a SMT-like (and classic SMT, non of that Nocturne tomfoolery), but it also has enough mechanics to keep your favourite waifus relevant through the mid to late game.
Now I can finally accomplish my dream and blast fairies alongside Sakuya and Meiling.
