This is a near perfect video game. Everything from the gameplay, the art, the sound, etc just really brings the nostalgia vibes... hard, all while being an amazing game.

Early Access Review
A fun fighter that while looking amazing, reminds me of some early PS1 era fighters like Battle Arena Toshinden mixed with maybe an Tobal vibe... back when the big fighters weren't completely cemented in how they operate and people were still creatively feeling out the genre.

Still needs work, but that's what early access is for =D

Play Birth of the Federation instead.

Hopefully it gets better with time but... so much wrong with this, the voice acting is just atrocious, the gameplay is mediocre in comparison to stellaris.

If you are a real star trek nerd there are a lot of decisions that just don't make sense.

Take for example, you can build a miranda class style ship very early on, then if you complete enough events, you can just randomly summon a galaxy class hero ship, but you are still stuck building only miranda classes.

The game skips over the very rich history of the lore to reward you with nostalgia beats that betray the timeline, it doesn't feel particularly random when it comes to the events, the two federation games I've tried played out almost identically.

A fine simulator but I cannot get the VR mode to work at all, absolutely jank implementation.

Edit: It would seem quest 2 works after all if you set the oculus app to be the default openxr handler

This is a video game ass video game.

The writing is great, kind of proto One Punch Man with an ordinary person suddenly becomes a hero... the game knows what it's poking fun at but then also excels at doing the thing it's poking fun at anyway.

Not much has been done to the visuals except a couple of filters added, which I recommend you turn off as they make everything look blurry.

This game is a roguelike mixed with an RPG, the game is also effectively turn based not to dissimilarly to Crypt of the Necrodancer (only no rhythm required!) enemies can perform an action after your player character does, but you get to choose what attacks you, so while the game will wait for your input before an enemy does something, you have longer think about the actions you will do.
