Nope, not paying another $10 for the final patch that was supposed to come with this remaster, years later now they are trying to charge for a remaster of a remaster that is just another engine swap alongside mods that are all already free. No thanks.

The least most painful way to play Hexen for the first time, even though it's really.... really frigging hard still xD

Definitely recommend it.

TLDR: Stay away from this garbage, it's broken and cannot be played past the generator room. DO NOT SUPPORT THESE DEVS OR IT'S UPCOMING SEQUEL

Game is completely broken at the Generator puzzle. I set the gas to 11, so that when you turn it on the light goes green and you hear the generator running. But the lights just refuse to come on.

I have tried other people's saves, and tried turning off generator and leaving the room, come back and try turning it on again. Nothing.

Hey devs at Dual Effect and Abstract Digital, before you make a sequel to your resident evil clone, how about you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fix the first one?

This is my favourite game of all time. So I am biased.

Nightdive just need to work out some kinks, then I'd say it's a worthy remaster of a legendary title that paved the way to so many games of it's kind. Don't let idiots tell you "it's just an HD texture mod", way more than that has gone into this game, and only purists with the blind tunnel vision can't see the awesomeness that nightdive have added here.

Take Half Life, take Sons of the Forest, add a bottle of salt into a boiling pot of water, and you have a lot of goofy fun.

Although I wish the devs would make guns not suck complete butt in this game. It makes you work your ass off to be able to use them, and they are so ineffective.

It's such an easy recommend. Do you love laughing your heads off and playing the blame game for who ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up? Like games like Lethal Company, but way more polished and fun? This is the game for you and your friends.

I came back to this one thinking I wasn't going to enjoy it much, but honestly had a blast on the higher difficulties. It required more than just holding S and Left click with the occasional right click. The reaper blade weapon is also really fun in that after sucking in 6 enemy souls, you can fire a special blade that has a AOE affect that will convert 1-4 enemies to fight with you and pull aggro away from you.

My one gripe and hopefully they will fix this in the new upcoming Painkiller in 2025: Please make the souls appear immedaitely after the enemy is down. I get you want to make the affect of them leaving that plane and all that, but sometimes standing there 3-5 seconds waiting for a corpse to turn into a soul is a real drag. I feel the game will become so much faster if the enemies dropped their souls immediately.

Otherwise great fun to be had if you can get it on the cheap. And really fun with a friend on the higher difficulties.

I got this on a sale, and am kind of feeling guilty not paying full price for it xD

I went into this thinking it would be a fun afternoon for some license slop, but what I wasn't expecting was a full blown semi open world immersive sim where you play as one of the coolest action heroes back in the 80s/90s

It's also really faithful to the source material in terms of the world, music, sound effects, atmosphere, characters etc

I am only 4 hours in, and even if the ending blows, this is a really fun game. You might be slow, but there is quite nothing like power walking, popping scum's heads and testicles, picking up a heavy af 90s CRT monitor and caving in the cranium of whoever you chuck it at.

Also a really fun mini puzzle game to power up Robo's Atuo 9 pistol. With some interesting gameplay changes to keep the old repeating pitol fresh to play.

If you are unsure, try out a friend's copy or something and see for yourself. I genuinely did not expect this game to be this good xD

Kind of looking forward to play the Terminator game now the devs made before this.

Just not fun, I can see what they were going for, but the reloading in this game is more annoying than anything else (and I played cruelty squad) and the first level is so confusing I have no idea where to go. A MAP for your confusing af maze of a level design would have been great!

Also probably missed like half of the "tutorial" because the AI tells you it while tecno music is blasting away drowning out the dialogue.

This is not a well designed game.

UPDATE speaking of not designed very well, tried to find a solution, and opened the game again, only for my checkpoint to start from the beginning again. And there is no saving/loading in this game, that is trying to be an immersive sim.

Steer clear, this game is an excercise in frustratingly bad design choices. Complete garbage.

Updated "review"

My thoughts on Monster Hunter Wilds now that I am HR100+

+ Amazing controls
+ Cool new monsters
+ Combat is ace

- Woefully unoptimized
- Content starved (no real end game)
- LR story is too hand holdy
- "open world" is completely pointless
- Build diversity is shallow

I just hope they add like 20+ returning monsters in the title updates minimum before the inevitable expansion. As it stands now the end game is pretty non existent, and once you managed to master the current extremely small roster of monsters, there's nothing to do.

I should NEVER get to a point only 50 hours in where I get BORED of a monster hunter game. The hell were you thinking Capcom?? It should be bloody CRIMINAL to not have ANY elder dragons in ANY mh game at launch! Blasphemy!

Hell even MH1 on the PS2 had 3 elder dragons at launch, granted you had to play the online (which was a big ask back then) to fight Kirin, Lao and Fatalis, but it was there!

I honestly can't think of a valid reason to leave this kind of content out of a MH game these days.

And for the love of all that is holy, why can't we use layered weapons??? You have the layered armor in the game, it was in MH Rise even, but now take it away for what purpose exactly? We are forced to look at that ugly sea green artian weapons bc they make up 90% of builds now

[OLD REVIEW]

The gameplay is top notch, don't let the wokes vs anti wokes make you think this is why the game is a hard sell atm.

Final word, this game is still incredible, but once you get under the shiny paint, it turns out it was used to cover up a LOT of sacrifices.

The more I think about it, the more disappointed I am

I am excited for Mizu, but the future updates better bring MH team's S tier game

The reason you should be wary is, that the benchmark tool does not help in confirming if the game will run well. This game looks and runs like an early ps4/xone game even on top hardware today. Which makes 0 sense why a game that doesn't look that good to begin with the require such top shelf hardware. And not saying the art style etc, but many cases even on ultra textures for example, some textures of wooden objects legit look like game textures from 2014. In other words the full game is horribly unoptimized.

Game is still good when it works though, but take extreme caution before taking the $70 plunge. But putting in a thumbs down until they start updating the game to start running well without the reliance of frame gen. More devs need to stop relying on that crutch for graphics fidelity.
