Shenmue 3 is a fantastic game. They really took the series in a different direction in this installment. This is actually a prequel to the first game taking place 40 years before the first game and you play a detective that can only be presumed as a relative of Ryo Hazuki. (Early in the game they mention the protagonist being in Japan)

This game has a lot more action in it but many things stayed the same.

3rd person detective game
Open world
Hand to hand combat
Writing in a notebook
There's a lot of cinematic points
You still inspect items move them back and forth, then comment on them.
You'll say to yourself, "ok wtf am I supposed to do now..?"

I haven't finished this game but I'm having a blast playing it (I can't wait to find out how this ties to Ryo Hazuki!!!)
