Let me start off by saying I only ever make a review if something is really good, or really bad.

Also, only consider this if you have a GPU that is below the 40 series of GPUs.

This software is absolutely amazing. It takes some getting used to and it also takes a little bit of tweaking but it is really good and I can honestly say that it works as you would expect. I was thinking this would be just another random scam program that "optimises" your PC to make it better.

BASICALLY, this program allows for Frame Generation (like seen on RTX 40 and 50 series cards) On cards that don't support it. I have been using an RTX TITAN in 4K while I am waiting for my 5090 and I have been struggling on this old but gold card to reach 60fps in games like Space Marine 2. I would get about 25FPS at max settings no DLSS. I activated this program and it got me all the way to 90FPS!

HOWEVER! This does come with some very small artifacts that you can often see in very fast moving scenes however for going from a slideshow to being a fully playable experience this is well worth the money!

If you have any card below a 40 Series NVIDIA GPU, this Program is 110% worth using.

The game is really good so far. People put up a review like 20 minutes into the game coming out saying "Oh tHe SeRvErS dOnT WoRk" Like are you serious? Thousands of people are trying to join all at once and you are complaining? The game is really good and exactly as told by the developers so far.

I cannot believe some people are saying "The janky looking around really sucks" like did you even look at this game before buying? What were you expecting slide cancelling and drop shotting like grow up please.

Enjoy the game, its a genre of its own stop trying to compare it to other games.

Great experience so far.

Overall after just one play through of the story I was really chuffed. I managed to buy this game... film? on the winter sale. I had seen it on steam a lot but I never really thought anything of it. The way I look at is is that to go to the cinema and watch a movie you'd pay quite a lot these days and for this game to be the price of maybe a movie ticket and some food its a really good deal. I have been through 1 play through where I did quite well in terms of story but to find out there are 6 more endings I haven't discovered yet and even more chapters that I haven't explored! Really good and would definitely recommend.

HONEST REVIEW
I have looked at a lot of the other reviews out there on this game and I was very disappointed. Sadly a lot of people have played similar games to this and because of that they are comparing this game to others. Having played no game like this I thoroughly enjoyed playing the game and I’ve completed it with all achievements. I played this game on steam deck which was a lovely experience being able to play such a relaxing game on the go. I have not played the other game everyone is talking about but I can 100% recommend this game, it’s nothing Triple A and it isn’t a story game that will keep you hooked for weeks but it for sure is a lovely experience and just feels really good to play. Would definitely recommend especially for the price. (P.S: I got this from a random 75 Steam key selection and so far it’s been the best out of the 75) :)

UPDATED REVIEW

Having let this game grow I have found it to be an absolutely brilliant game, I love the building, it is extremely extensive. I have been playing with my friends recently and while the story to the game is still lack luster compared to the original forest game they have really upped the game in terms of features and replayability.

BEFORE YOU READ: I DO THINK THIS GAME IS GOOD..... BUT....

I have played this game with my friend and we were completely new to the game. We had played the last game together and really enjoyed the in-depth story that the game had, it had us hooked for hours, days on end and was really fun and simple to play! SOME of this is still true with the second game.
What we thought:

Graphics : 9/10
The graphics in the game were super good, we ran on a 3060 (My friend) and a 3070 (Me) and the game looked absolutely stunning, the game itself plays really well and with changing seasons and high quality textures the game looks super good!

Building : 9/10
The building aspect of this game is some of the absolute best I have seen from a survival game (I have played many) The building is so in-depth and customisable HOWEVER it is missing some buildables from the first game (Such as something as small as an arrow holder) which really would help the game if it included these.

Gameplay : 9/10
The actual gameplay itself is really good, you find yourself in stunning environments in the day and being hunted by cannibals at night, it really keeps you on your toes and the mechanics of the game are super smooth. It cannot be a perfect 10 as there are some things that need improving, they are only small things however they do effect how the game plays. One of these being that when you are trying to trade with a friend you can only give one item at a time (on each click of the mouse) meaning trying to transfer 30 bullets to a friend has you sitting there for over a minute at the least. These small things being improved (Some that have not been mentioned) would put the gameplay to a straight 10.

Combat : 8/10
Combat can feel very overwhelming at times as you will find yourself fighting many cannibals that take sometimes 5 arrows each to kill, without a friend there I would have stopped playing that game or had to change my play-style as I honestly must have been downed around 100 times. The combat is very fun and there are a large range of weapons that you can use in order to take down your enemies. However I have found that these weapons can sometimes feel very under-powered against some enemies leaving you to either sit with a friend and stun-lock the enemy or just straight up running past them to continue. But overall with some practice I am sure the combat could be very good which is why I have said it is an 8/10

Map : 7/10
The map is something that has both really good parts and really bad parts. An example of this is the size. The size of the map is very large which makes it very good, and very bad. I know this does not make sense so allow me to explain. The map is very large and allows you to explore a bunch of land that you may not have seen before, the land is also extremely beautiful in some areas! Walking down a path and seeing a group of stags walk across a lovely sunlight-lit track is beautiful. However what lets the map down is.. that.. well its really big and you will often find yourself running for a very long time before you find anything and getting to objectives can be very difficult (BUT MORE ON THAT LATER>>>)

Crafting : 10/10
They have really nailed crafting in the second game, I have had a great time creating different new tools and objects that I can use to continue on my quest and unlike in the first game finding resources to make the new tools and weapons has been much easier but not too easy so sometimes you did have to find parts and what not. Overall very good.

THE STORY : 2/10
This was a really sad point for me as the first game's story was extremely in depth and had you on the side of your seat going "Oh damn so that's why that happened", in the first game they really hammered in the lore and why you are doing what you are doing, who all the people are and why you are still moving towards your goal. A VERY small example of this is that if you try and leave the island prematurely in the first game your character will take out a picture of Timmy (Your son) and it reminds you again of what you are actually fighting for. Sadly, In sons of the forest (As of July 2023) there really is not a story, in fact, not a single word is said (that I know of) in the entire game, you do not hear a single piece of dialogue. This is really really key. I will try not to spoil anything but at the end of the game you meet.. people.. and you do... something.. but not a single word is exchanged between you and said people, you don't know who they are, what they are, what they are fighting for, why they are not hostile. YOU KNOW NOTHING. The game itself provides you with various email sheets throughout the story which give you very very basic information on.. not a great deal.. me and my friend finished the game and we literally (And I am not joking) have no idea what we did, why we did it, who we saw, what we are fighting for, what our ideals are. WE KNOOWWW NOTHINGG. The story is extremely short (Depending on how you play, more on that next) and it is extremely hard to navigate. The game had us completely guessing where we would go next, we had no Idea where to go and we had no idea how to find out where to go other than looking online (Which we tried to use sparingly as it ruined the experience)

Story length and playing : 2/10
Me and my friend bought the game, played on the first day for around 5 hours where we learnt the mechanics of the game got a few basic tasks done and got a few of the story items just for fun. The second day we spent entirely making a base and learning the very cool building mechanics which lasted about 5 hours (this day was very fun). Then on the 3rd day which consisted of about 6 hours we continued through a few story points and found ourselves at the end of the game scratching our heads to where the story was. We were still feeling fresh having basically just bought the game and now here we were at the end of it having gone through everything I have written above. Very rough. I have 19 hours on record, around 16 hours are gameplay and 3 hours are on menus and afk. PLEASE REMEMBER, in those 16 hours of gameplay that was also us trying to find and make our way to objectives and as stated above it took a long time to go from objective to objective so really there was probably around 5 hours of content here. Overall very rough for us both

Vehicles : 7/10
There are vehicles in this game such as hover-boards, golf carts and hang gliders and all were very fun to use. The only really useful one being the hang glider. The hoverboard was too fast, you got kicked off it all the time and in a forest it is like literally the worst vehicle on the planet. BUT it gave us some of our funniest moments being sent flying off the side of a mountain or landing face first in front of a bunch of cannibals. The golf cart was.. alright.. I mean it was cool to drive and the trails sort of work as it is small enough to drive along them but THE ONE MAIN PROBLEM IS THAT YOU CANNOT USE YOUR MAP PHONE ON IT, PLEASE FIX THIS AS IT WILL MAKE THE GOLF CART SO MUCH BETTER. If you can use your phone and steer a hang glider mid air then I think you should be able to on a golf cart. The hang glider was the most useful with it being able to get you to a destination nice and easily. Then there.. well.. there was the sled.. but.. we don't talk about that..., just.. don't bother with it.. not worth your time.

GAME OVERALL: 5/10, simply because of the massively lacking story seeing as this is literally a story survival game!!!!!!
