Early Access Review
It's a fun parkour goblin game.
It's a lot of fun to play with friends and randoms alike for playing glorified goblin tag!
There are also single player challenge maps that are fun to go through.
Most importantly unlockable cosmetics are in the game!
Nothing better than a fabulous gobbo.
It's a fun game to play with others if you have some cash lying around.

I really love this dlc aesthetically and thematically. Having a nice pon sink makes me feel more inclined to collect them. I love the multiplayer and I am grateful they are as fast as they are for bug fixes.

However, there is one problem in nyakuza: there are way too many kill zones.
(To clarify, a kill zone is an area that deals damage to you and forces you to respawn.) Now kill zones are necessary in a lot of areas but I feel really bound to set paths for a "free roam" level. There are lots of areas where you'd think you can drop down to get to where you need to go (sometimes you need to backtrack quickly) and when you're falling you just die for no reason. Even if it wasn't a height that should have been deadly. For some of the train sections I can understand why they're in place, but imo it kinda kills exploring alternate solutions in some areas.

The main reason I had to make this review is because of one part in particular in pink paw station. There is a part where you hookshot onto two dweller platforms and climb up to a T path with rumbas on both sides. I'm done exploring the area and want to go back so I think ok I can jump off and hookshot... to instantly die. I'm like "ok clearly I can't drop down over there for some reason guess I have to go the long way via dweller platforms. Nope you instantly die before you can even reach the platform. It's a major problem that inhibits the "free roam" goal while reducing possible solutions.
I still recommend this dlc due to the amount of extra content you get, but I hope that gears for breakfast would fix all the kill zones. I'd really rather not have to go to hub to leave an area I just got to because bad killzone placement.

This game is straight trash.
Firstly the building requires intimate knowledge of how to abuse the damage phsyics of the game. This makes it so you can keep certain parts alive to keep you moving or fighting even to the bitter end. While a lot of the designs can look cool or cute or what ever they still get 1-2 shot by someone across the map with their legendary railgun. You can spend hours learning about the process of building properly and even more time designing one. Just to have it torn apart by a build that looks like an ostrich that was downloaded. Which brings me to my next issue with the game.
The "factory" is essentially where you would be able to post your builds look at others builds and possible spend robits to buy their blueprint. You even get to test it before actualy investing the parts. Builds you make can be sold and you make robits per blueprint sold. On paper it sounds wonderful for the people who get their hopes destroyed by terrible building mechanics. Except for a big detail they don't say. Only premium members get their builds promoted. Means if you're f2p or spend $5 like I did You're out of luck. Your bots can stay on the market for a long period of time and never be sold no matter how good it is stat wise. Then the worst part of it is that you spend your robits on someone elses build because you can't be bothered to spend your next lifetime making another bot. The worst part is, you're still 1 shot by people who have the legendary weapons.
The dlc is absolute over priced garbage for parts that almost noone uses. They taunt you with the items you "could" have gotten if you were premium. All the "good' weapons cost so much robits that it'll take a long time before you can even afford it. The only way to get robits and parts is by buying or playing the game, but the loot you get is so laughably bad %90 you're doomed to be broke forever. Because you can never get any good loot you can't make a better robot and sense you can't make a better robot you lose and get the bad loot again. At first this game felt fun when I was facing other new players, but this is a trap to hook you. After about 20 levels you start finding the, what I like to call, "Noob stompers." These players are unbearable using the most gimmicky garbage stuff that ends up working because they have unbalanced weapons. Take cuttlefish builds, 5 cube builds etc. Because nothing feels worse than spending time and robits (possibly money like in my case) just to have your hard work 2 shot without a fight by trollish builds.
3rd the balancing is so trash in this game that if you don't have "the best weapons" or the right amount of health or proper building techniques you get your face kicked in. Plus that's not counting the weapons with built in aimbot, Overly high dps weapons like the ionizer, and the railguns which shoot through your build to your vulnerable parts. While the game is "technically" free to play it is definitely pay to win. It would at least be nice if you could buy some of the weapons right off the steam market or something, but that will never happen because there is no money in it for them. So instead you're stuck with bad weapons, bad builds, and never enough robits. There are parts that are just clearly better than other weapons of a similar catagory but they're so overpriced that you can't even compete with them. There are so few types of builds that are "usable" by gameplay standards that you end up just defaulting to what ever is the highest promoted in the factory.
This game should have never been made free to play in my opinion. The crates are always trash except when trying to get you to buy premium. The robit system is almost functional as an extension to the game but you make so little you shouldn't even bother. They don't care if you invest into the game. If you're not premium you're not worth a dime to them. This game was a mistake to download and that's $5 I'll never get back and did not feel rectified. Feel free to play it if you want disapointment. Games like gear up (god rest it's soul) and others are way more fun and to some degree more mechanically intensive. I don't reccomend spending time or money into this pay to win garbage. I would have much rather paid the $40 to just own the game instead of teased with crates.

This is a pretty good game with lots of perks. I've been playing this game for 50 hours without buying the 29.99 premium pack. So if you're concerned about this game being pay to win, you have nothing to worry about. In less than 3 games that take 10 minutes you will already have enough for a new part. The credits are easy to earn and parts are fairly cheap.

I did end up buying the basic pack however. Not becuase I had to but because it made the game much more enjoyable. While you get a slight advantage over people who are free to play in the access to 3 quick slots to save 3 diffrent builds. I say advantage because it saves a significant amount of time from switching items out.
The next reason I bought the basic was you have unlimited item storage. This isn't a necessity by any means. Your storage increases with your rank and really it takes a while before you max out your parts. All the parts themselves are easy to collect completely free.

The gameplay itself is very solid actually. The parts are pretty well balanced for the most part. For example, if you want to use a missle launcher over a heavy cannon you'd trade 5 damage for slightly faster firing speed and a diffrent type of projectile. Or if you want to use 6 wheels instead of the tracks you get less weight and slightly better max speed. There are a lot of turrets and hulls though that in my opinion are a waste of space so bear that in mind.
As other posters have said the autoblance is a little funky where red team always gets the first person. This creates some very unbalanced games naturally. Since you can leave the current game without penalty there are *some* players who leave the game. Putting you at a further disadvantage. However this has never been a huge problem for me at least as the cases the games get terribly unbalanced is few and far between.
The maps spawns are a little obnoxious at times. There seems to be a trend where when someone spawns alone the enemy team waits to spawn on top of them, all at once. This makes some skirmishes very unfair becuase it feela like the second you spawn you'll have to fight for your life. However it's only in deathmatch and team deathmatch game modes. In the other game modes it's a lot less of a problem in my opinion.
The controls are difficult to get at first. Once you start having a few hours under your belt though it starts getting much easier to control yourself without spinning out. How you can move really is versitile in you can climb on walls, hover over water, or just roll around. In some builds jumping, hovering, and to some degree gliding can be fun to catch people off gaurd.

The game is very stylized in a good way. It has both cute and cool attributes that make it visually nice to look at. The game is also fairly good looking full optimized as well so if you play on a toaster like I do than you'll not have to worry about it looking like a pixelated discolored mess. However there seems to be some kind of bug internally that does create massive frame drops. I'm sure in time it will be fixed.
The map designs themselves range from really enjoyable to wanting to stab yourself with a dirty spork. I'm talking of course about 2 maps in particular which happen to be water levels. This forces ryou to either drive around obstacles in a small path to fall off and drown if you're not careful OR use the hover parts to get across water safely. The other major water map is just a giant putting people on top of the hill at a huge advantage. Now forcing you to either use legs to climp annoying walls or hover to sit on the bottom. While some of the maps are boring at first they really grow on you overtime. For example there is a map that is built more like a king of the hill game mode while everything else is just hills and empty space. At first it seems boring but once you get the hang of movement you'll appreciate the simplicity. The maps are very diverse from each other but there are so few you start getting a little bored of them.

Overall I like this game. It's fun, charming, and a little nutty. I feel like it needs more dynamic part choices though to extend potential play styles. I also would like playing support to be more rewarding to do. Seriously you only get an achievement for playing medic, but get bonus points for getting more kills. Some of the hulls and turrets also need slight rebalancing to be more viable as they're great in concept but poorly executed. Once you kind of see the major meta builds, you start realizing how few options there really are for actual parts/non weapons/non support. Also for how high some of the maps can be having a max aiming hieght can get really annoying sometimes.

I suggest this game becuase dispite its faults and shortcomings it really is a solid choice to play for a while. It's easy to get caught up in playing the game before realizing just how many matches you've played. Playing around with new builds to find what works is very enjoyable as well. Solid gameplay, visually good to look at, and overall an 7.8/10 from me. It would be higher if the game had more maps, parts, and gamemodes. would like to see some king of the hill or payload style games.

Look dispite all that people have been whining about the new update being trash(and I'll agree it was a very roughly poorly communicated update) It's a good game. The gameplay is solid and you can spend thousands of hours just mastering just 1 of the nine classes and still not know everything about this game. It still at least gets updates even when they have points that aren't desirable. The reality is that if you want to play a game that you feel rewarded the longer you play, a game where there is a place for all kinds of gamers, and a game that isn't as high stress as other games tf2 is the game for you. Even outside of core gameplay there are so many community servers that give tf2 new ways to play. The thing I think people need to realize about tf2 is that trading saved it long ago and now competitive was expected to save it again. This is a casual game and has been for years. Competitive is still optional and trading is still a core element. The reality is that once you get into this game it's hard to leave on a whim because one bad choice. A lot of things point to the fact valve probably doesn't even play the game anymore and only looks for ways to cash in on it. I still recommend it even after the update because the gameplay itself didn't change. The things that make tf2 unique are still here. I would reccomend before and after this update,
