Overview
Genuinely the only Gacha game I've ever played where I felt the game wasn't pushing me to get on daily to do content. Slight issues that do not heavily weigh down the game. Lacking in side content. 8/10

Main Story
  • Story is well-written, currently consisting of 8 "Cantos" (chapters) with a new Canto releasing at the beginning of a new season. The game also features "Intervallos" that release between Cantos throughout a season.
  • Story mode nodes are the only content in this game that consume pure Enkephalin instead of nodes.
  • Various main bosses have vocal themed composed by the band Mili, with one song from Cantos 4-8.
  • Completing Cantos can increase the max level your IDs are able to reach.
  • The tutorial is poor at describing game content and it is in your best interest to find a guide online instead, as the game itself can be quite difficult for new players. This critique was recently addressed, a new tutorial has been added to the game before Season 6.

Side Content
  • Side content is somewhat lacking, possibly to the games detriment but if you're here for the story alone it's a way to gain more pulls for units to use on main content, especially in later Cantos when you're setting up more consistent teams to combat the increase in difficulty. This critique was recently addressed on a livestream, new gamemodes are being considered.
  • The game contains a battlepass that despite generally being negative for games helps Limbus instead become replayable more often due to how the game treats levels after 120 and it's lacking side content, granting you shard boxes to dispense IDs and EGOs. The free track despite containing less than the paid is quite rewarding.
  • Mirror dungeons are the real meat and potatoes of post-story content, currently consisting of five floors in a roguelike mode with 2 difficulties. The gamemode itself is fun but not yet finished as a future update for achievements and going beyond floor 5 was announced to come to the gamemode eventually. This will likely fix my personal issues with the generally easy difficulty. It is the main way you will gain shard boxes, battlepass levels & lunacy after the main game. While Floor 10 & achievements have been added, they do not particularly fix some issues I have with the mode, with going above floor 5 not feeling rewarding after the first attempt. While achievements have issues with little reward & loadout requirements without the set loadouts that were meant to release alongside them, making completion of Mirror of Dreams near impossible for newer players.
  • Railroad is a hard yet rewarding gamemode where you fight through a series of challenging battles for a quite massive one-time reward, though I wish there were existing yet diminished rewards for completing runs beyond your first or going beneath a total turn threshold beyond a profile icon.
  • The game has events generally often that are a rewarding slight grind in comparison to other games, though slightly repetitive.
  • All side modes in the game use Enkephalin modules compared to pure Enkephalin.

Gacha System
  • Every unit in the game besides the previous season's gacha IDs (at the time of writing Season 5) are dispensable with shards, while Walpurgis ID's/EGOs are only dispensable during Walpurgis (Excluding the new IDs/EGO of said Walpurgis)
  • There was recently a change to the dispenser system that makes new units unable to be dispensed until a week after release which was directly stated as a way to potentially increase profits, though overall the change is minimal unless you want the unit the moment it releases.
  • I do not understand why you can buy a past battlepass EGO for roughly 23 USD worth of paid lunacy (double an announcer oddly enough) or just shard them instead. A very odd and specific feature.
  • Announcers are overpriced in paid lunacy for how little of an influence they are on the game, if they were instead given via free lunacy or were purchased via thread I would consider obtaining them. They are not worth 11 USD.
  • Maxing out units is a generally quick and simple process though setting up your first team may take some time.

Social Features
  • The game is generally lacking in social features, with a rudimentary social aspect and profile customization. As the gameplay is entirely singleplayer however, this is not an issue.
  • You are only allowed to loan one unit from a friend, from the friends listed "Company" panel on their profile and will be selectable from a separate tab inside a sinners ID selection before entering a stage. The menu can be confusing for new players to find at times.
  • Loaned units may not be usable on certain pieces of content in the game.
