TL;DR
One of the amazing remakes that was done right. I believe that I didn't experience any bugs during my playthrough, so good stuff on that. Has some performance issues and puzzle solving that sometimes gets really repetitive. Not really a huge fan of the price and recommend getting it on sale or going on a key site and getting it cheaper there, but even spending the $70, it was still worth it. 8.5/10.


I usually am not a fan of remakes or remasters of old video games because I see them as rather cash grabs trying to get people who had played the original to buy the remake/remaster due to nostalgia or an old game that didn't need one in the first place, but this is the one of the games that I think did an amazing job of remaking a classic that was made so long ago. As someone who has never played a Silent Hill game, it really blew away my expectations and was having a blast playing it from the beginning to the end. The story was amazing, the environment and atmosphere is top notch, characters are pretty good, the voice acting is outstanding , (especially James), enemies were scary, but get very annoying when they just pop out at you, but that's okay, I could keep going on and on, but the game was a blast to play from start to end and I am probably even going to 100% it. Now I wish this game was perfect, but their are a couple things that I didn't like about the game. For one, the performance issues are not the worst, but their would be some times where I would drop a crazy amount of frames if I am in a certain place/area in the game, this wasn't a really huge issue because it only happened like rarely but still wanted to address it. The second thing being the crazy amount of puzzles in the game that you had to solve. I don't hate doing the puzzles and to be honest, I found it very fun to do, but it got super tedious when you were at the hotel, this is also probably why it's my least favorite part of the game, it was pretty much just going back and forth doing puzzles and it was extremely annoying to go through. And the last thing I want to mention is the price of the game, I am not a huge fan of the $70 price tag on a remake and my rating would had been way higher if it was $60 or if I got it cheaper on some site. But other than that, the game was an absolute banger and it's definitely one of my favorite horror games I have played. I will give it a 8.5/10, like I said, if the game was cheaper when I first bought it, I would had probably gave it a 9 or 10, I recommend getting it on some key website for $30-40 or just wait for a Steam sale. Other than that, W remake, ya'll cooked with this one, now I am going to try out Silent Hill 3. Good stuff.

Words literally cannot describe how good this game is; all I have to say is that it truly is a masterpiece that was way ahead of its time and has the craziest plot twist/ending I've ever seen in a video game. Please give this game a shot; you won't regret it.
