Reminder to myself to write the most glowing, thorough, and incredible review ever of this game when I finally finish it.

The ONLY way this game is good is with the Star Wars Genesis mod pack which completely changes & overhauls the game. Big recommend for THAT, the standalone is dookie. If you have to ride the coattails of your most successful games LITERALLY "AS THE STEAM DESCRIPTION" for the game you are trying to sell, it's probably no bueno.

Get the Star Wars Genesis mod here, go support this lovely team of developers who managed to turn a trash game into a worthy experience: https://genesismodlist.com/

Early Access Review
First thought: DAMN it feels good to be a NOOB again.

*Sees a large flat stretch of land:* Ah yes, I think I'll put the Grand Exchange right over he~... *IMMEDIATELY GETS ATTACKED BY A DRAGON*

*Ques up Newbie Melody and proceeds to chop logs for 30-50 hours. Must... hit... level... 99.*

Quick Takeaway:

Plays like Valheim wrapped in the world of Gielinor with a comfy little soundtrack reminiscent of the original OSRS melodies. You may even recognize some of the tunes! GET TO GRINDING NEWBIES!!! YOU HAVE A NEW RUNESCAPE TO CONQUER!!!

Have you ever wanted to bake a loaf of bread for a dragon? LOOK NO FURTHER!!! Here's my honest take on Sea of Stars.

The Good:

I cannot say enough good things about this game. I've laughed, cried, cried laughing, and tried graphing just how incredible this game is. The storytelling is chocked full of emotion, upbeat silly humor, and vivid environments full of colorful and witty characters backed by a rock-solid soundtrack that will throw you back into the days of 90s retro RPGs such as The Shining Force & Phantasy Star. The open world exploration once you hit the world map really gives you the sense of the freedom to choose where you want to go and when. The combat feels intuitive and rewarding, and requires you to use real-time stratagem and swapping-out characters efficiently to carve your way to victory.

The Bad:

Most relics acquired throughout the game cheapen the experience as they allow the player to make the game unreasonably easy, such as being able to double health & magic points at all times or healing after every battle. Luckily these acquired items are optional, and at the discretion of the individual player to use.

That's really all I've got for aspects I'm not a fan of!

Summary:

Sea of Stars is a fantastic modern RPG experience with classic RPG elements baked into it. This has been my favorite game to play as a streamer in the year that I've been streaming, and has been both a heartwarming and engaging experience for both myself and my viewers. We have loved this story every step of the way, from the heartwarming moments, to the tearjerking ones. Huge shout out to Sabotage Studio for creating this modern masterpiece, and for all of the incredible artwork, storytelling, animation, sound effect, and musical work put into it!

10/10 would sail the stars again.
