First and Foremost, to anyone who has not yet played this game, let me say this:
This game is not what the cover sells to you, it is so much more than that. What is made to appear as a harmless visual novel/dating sim game with cute anime girls that you could never admit to playing to anyone you know is not what you get. the game is a wolf in sheep's clothing. If you have not heard of it, I encourage you to play through and realize just how different the game is from your intial impression. If you are like I was, seeing it here and there on youtube and being aware of the buzz around it but having not tried it for yourself, do yourself the favor of playing this game.

My Review (minor spoilers):
This game is a masterpiece of character developement, plot twists, and psychological navigation. The game starts out very slow as to get you interested in the characters and to draw you in on their personalities and your interactions with them. It does its best to get you to lean towards one of the girls, Monika, yuri, Sayori, or Natsuki, and impress your favorite with the poems you write (not actaully writing poems just selecting words that match a character's personality). After an hour or two of getting the characters to rub off on you, the game takes some dark turns. There is a huge plot twist, and after it happens the game starts over, but it is heavily altered. The game tries to run itself without certain elements, and things start to break and become weird. One of the characters starts becoming self aware, and plays god in the world. A seemingly harmless and cute visual novel becomes a psychological horror game that will make you reget/question choices you made. The game will actually have you modify its files on your computer in order to beat certain checkpoints, a feature i find extremely unique.

Conclusion:
The game is a masterpiece of design. The creators have made something truly unique in its nature and gameplay. There is nothing like this game that I have seen or heard of. The characters are unforgettable and while the game will take about 5 hours to complete, it will take a lifetime to forget.
