1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup (90g) chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Melt the butter and let it cool slightly. In a large bowl, combine melted butter and sugar, whisking until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
Sift together cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
If using, fold in chocolate chips.
Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Cut into squares and enjoy!
