Not a very long game, but executes what it does pretty well. I had fun with the puzzles, the difficulty seemed appropriate for what it is, and the time loop/resets never really got frustrating.

Recommended, but only because I got it for very cheap at just €2,63 and because it's the only English-language review (at the time of writing there's only 2 reviews and they're in Turkish). I'd also try the demo before buying since it had tech issues on my system at least.

Reditum is a fairly simple puzzler with exactly three mechanics: you can change the gravity in any of 4 directions, you can redirect lasers and you can move boxes. There are 24 puzzle rooms, all of which require you to either place boxes on a button or point a laser at a button. In some rooms, you have to do both. It's fairly cheap and short - I'd say about 2-3 hours. Overall, it doesn't cost much, doesn't go on for any longer than it needs to, and I enjoyed myself with the puzzles. Wouldn't hurt to pick it up if this sounds fun to you. It's also just nice to give small devs/games a chance.

I'd be remiss not to mention the less good parts, though. The lasers have some issues and can sometimes stop reflecting properly when the room is rotated - this can be rather frustrating. Some of the puzzles are really easy to break with a fairly simple exploit. There's also one puzzle room I don't understand how to solve without this exploit. I could also reliably fall out-of-bounds by pushing myself with a box, which requires the puzzle to be reset as far as I know - and it happened by accident twice or so. Essentially, tech issues hinder the experience a bit.

You can just play any of the puzzle rooms whenever you want without having to complete the previous room(s). There's no "continue" button so you need to remember which room you were in if you play in multiple sittings.

Really good entry into the SS franchise. Maps are better than SS4 and while it has a few flaws, for me it was close to TFE/TSE levels of quality - especially after the patch seems to have fixed most problems I had. I'd buy this if you're even slightly interested.

Overall, map 1-2 are more like early maps in TFE/TSE, whereas map 3-5 are more like SS4. I didn't love map 3 - felt it had a bit too much open space in places, esp. when searching for secrets. However, overall level design was fantastic and on par with some of SS's best levels. I really liked the more "classic" feel of the story on the first maps, where Sam is just doing stuff by himself. Humor was also great.

As for criticism, I thought the burner's dmg should have been tuned down just a little, and the final boss could have been a bit better. Sentry towers were OK but I wouldn't care if they never return.

Echoes of the Eye is pretty different from the basegame, but it is good in its own right. I would consider it worse than the main game though. This review is almost entirely spoiler-free.

Your ship is barely used, which was a huge part of the main game and I quite missed it honestly. There is no new text to translate, and not nearly as much personality in the new characters. There is also one mechanic which is really not fun to have to deal with - luckily you can bypass those sections by playing smart. I also felt that it was much more repetitive than the main game, but that's mostly due to scope - the main game just had way more locations.

However, the story was enjoyable, and it fills some gaps from the base game with pretty compelling answers. I also really liked the presentation of much of the information. I loved how they managed to make the puzzles very difficult to figure out without the proper hints, even though they seem really obvious in hindsight. This is very hard to do.

With how amazing the base game was, it was almost a given that this DLC would disappoint at least a little bit. Therefore, fact that it was only a slight disappointment to me means it is very good.

Pretty good puzzler. Early levels are imo a bit too easy, but the later levels provide a good challenge and you really need to think quite a bit for certain levels. Easy to play and dev responds to any issues that come up. Style is charming, clear and serves the game well. Definitely worth it for anyone who likes puzzle games at the low price point.
Only one issue - I had quite a few crashes, though I never lost any progress and relaunching the game took no time at all. Dev has deployed a hotfix that should have resolved the issues for anyone else.

The game is far too simple mechanically and does not provide an interesting stealth experience. Most levels have only one path to solve them, and none of them are difficult in a 'solving a puzzle' sense. Some levels are outright bad. I don't think it is worth your time nor your money. Most annoyingly, I kept getting a pop-up about problems with the online connection whenever I was in the level select menu. I'd have to close this box every 4-5 seconds. Just why?

There are about 20-30 levels that are varying levels of interesting and satisfying to solve, but the rest is just an exercise in tedium. In the worst case you end up having to wait on cooldowns. Even having to wait on guard patrol cycles, which is a staple in stealth games and normally is fine, becomes annoying when in so many levels you can literally run past them without any issue.

The story is fine, but not nearly as good as Thomas Was Alone.

Other gripes are that it's dumb that the game does not show you where you missed readable text (especially since you apparently need to hit a checkpoint after reading it???) and that your charge does not save at checkpoints (or even just make iyou spawn with full charge to encourage smart resets for faster times).

Overall: had some potential, did not use it enough. Do not purchase unless you are a huge fan of top-down stealth games.

Serious Sam 4 is both a 9/10 and a 5/10.

In other words, when the game is good, it's great - the best Serious Sam game since The Second Encounter. It adds some great new things, such as dual wielding (especially when you can dual wield two different weapons), some of the gadgets, and the alternate fire on quite a few weapons. All of these offer you more choices in combat. Serious Sam has, to me, always been about using the right ammo at the right time (and strafing a lot). The gadgets were also much better than the previously existing options, like the Serious Bomb, by providing significant boosts in much more varied ways. By increasing the amount of choices, Serious Sam 4 nails the combat. It feels somewhat fresh, but it's also more of that specific gameplay that only Serious Sam still does. When it hits those "Serious Sam highs" as in some of the arenas, or the fantastic oil rig level, it's a really great game. I had a ton of fun just shooting monsters, it was challenging, and it had some fun new enemies. Due to level variety it didn't get repetitive for me, although this type of game will end up always being a bit repetitive since you can only do so much with the formula (first and second encounter were repetitive too).

Just based on the gameplay being pretty good, I'll recommend people who like arcade shooters to try it - I think it is a pretty specific taste though. The base gameplay is pretty great at times and just good at others, so this and the sound is the 9/10 side. The music is as good as it's always been. The guns as well as the monsters have sound design that makes it all sound and feel very distinctive and visceral. That being said, a lot of other things in the game are quite flawed at best and bad at worst.

The story is okay, but I kind of wish they wouldn't have bothered. The weird b-movie parody plot got some big laughs from me, so I'll give it a pass. Most characters aren't particularly great - and honestly I preferred when it was just Sam shooting aliens with NETRICSA for some background info - but if they were going for "make fun of sci-fi/action b movies", they nailed that at least. If it was intended to be serious, it could use some work - particularly the whiplash between the "bad-ass one-liners" and the "serious moments" are weird, especially with the ludonarrative dissonance that results from NPCs being completely invulnerable during regular play and then just "lol you dead"-ed during cutscenes. I also did not like most boss fights, but that's pretty par for the course and I would only call Achriman "actively bad". The last boss fight was interesting though, and felt pretty classic Serious Sam.

The character animations for humans tend to be incredibly stiff and plastic-y, their models did not look great on my settings (which were the highest as far as I could tell), especially Quinn's hair was odd, and a lot of characters looked basically the same except for different clothes or a different hairstyle. Partly due to this, I don't think having NPC companions was a great addition. They also tend to mess with your expectations of enemy actions which makes the game significantly harder, at least to me. The less predictable enemies are, the more unfair the game can feel at times - not a fun time. I think there were a lot of improvements possible in the story and character department, but it wasn't outright bad nor did it ruin the game or anything like that. It just left me with the feeling that it could have been better. There aren't any quick fixes here since it is kind of inherent to the style of writing that they chose: either you like the pun workshopping or you don't. As it stands, it is very hit-or-miss, and the poor animations don't help make the characters relatable even at times when they should be.

The actual graphics were okay - the enemy models were by far the best thing, whereas the environment tended to have some issues loading in on my system (further away from the main map especially, trees loading in your vision, etc.) which wasn't dependant on my settings. The performance was fine on my system, though I had some crashes early on that Croteam's support helped me fix in like an hour. Load times were also quite long between levels or when loading the first time.

As for the levels, I felt some were a bit lacking. The level design was quite a let-down, particularly in the French levels. There was an endless countryside to drive through with almost nothing there barring some easter eggs and a side mission. I much preferred the closed-off atmosphere of the oil rig, wandering around an empty environment where no enemies nor power-ups spawn is not particularly interesting. That would actually be my biggest complaint about the game - why have so much empty space? Plus, most of the vehicles handled very poorly and were not that interesting at all. The last few levels were fantastic though, well-designed, varied and interesting arena fights. I wish they would do more levels like the oil rig - visually clear, a lot of confined spaces, and classic opportunities for ambushing you.

I do also have a few nitpicks about the gameplay - the activation time of some gadgets was quite long compared to the amount of time that they last, certain weapons were unexpectedly usually outclassed (the rocket launcher without the upgrade and the grenade launcher either way specifically) compared to others (though dual wielding made the shotgun and assault rifle much more worthwhile than they have ever been), and the headshot system can be a bit wonky (as in, it feels very forgiving and very unforgiving at the same time). The terrain physics are very slippery and random, which is especially annoying since so many secrets rely on intricate jumping now - it really should have been a bit easier to take the intended paths to secrets. The secrets in later levels also got very bland, and there were way too many power-up rewards that are just the boring +50 health one. Honestly, if you already have 10 of those it should just be automatically be added to your HP. The combat sometimes lacked visual clarity due to too many particle effects - especially the Vesuvius level made it so difficult to see things with all the glowing going on. Finally, the new melee system was very disappointing - SS3's was much, much better.

Overall, it is a very good Serious Sam game with quite a few flaws, lacking polish. The gameplay is as fun as I was hoping as a long-time fan, but I wish it had been possible to add just a little bit more polish to a large variety of small things. It's worth playing though as it scratches an itch that no other game does. It's a 9/10 when it hits that Serious Sam goodness spot, and a 5/10 because it unfortunately lacks some polish in critical areas.

(please don't make serious sam 5 another prequel)
