Long and short of it is, I've spent my formative years here on and abouts Steam. I've made and lost friends, had more laughs than I can count, and grown a damn sight along the way. I've met people through post-game lobbies and just general trades, who I never could have back in small town Indiana, or Florida. I joined back a-ways, following a friend here to Steam that I originally knew IRL, and for all the flak and crap, its changed my life for the better.

It's a big part of the reason I'm still here, now.

It has also both opened, and closed, my mind to a *lot* of the ♥♥♥♥ that goes on in the modern world; be it the "progressive" liberal side of DEI and similar hogwash, or the close-minded pearl-clutching "think of the children" stance that certain payment companies and conservatives take when it comes to online games.

I'm in my mid 20s now, but thought I might put a bit of my history here if anyone stumbles across my profile, likely from Helldivers or Wilds.

Team Fortress 2 was the first game I got seriously into, and the thousands of hours invested were by no means wasted- I've met some of my best friends flailing around in the community servers and quickplay- Some would eventually drag me off into other games, where I'd meet more friends and make more stories. I'd make a buck here and there, flipping one of the games many hats, and I did work for people and friends- hunting down specific Unusual's or strange's they sought, usually snagging them for cheaper than the market asked. Where some people had Halo or CoD, TF2 was my "chat lobby" experience.

From there, Warframe is the other "big name" of the games I got into- Its a game I thought I'd probably play, at the very least off and on, for as long as its up and running. I took my knowledge and connections to a couple people I knew from my Tf2 days in with me, and I've had a great many deals in that game's tradechat. Unusual's became Rivens, and soon I was rolling in more plat than I knew what to do with. While I still think the game is interesting, I have a lot less reason to play it these days.

I almost had to pay taxes when I was 12, I sold so much. I was looking forward to the future of being way to smart for my own good. Had everything all planned out, "god" willing.

Then Life got in my way, as its known to, and bashed my knees in with a wrench. More aptly, my head, but same difference. Straight A's and College Bound GPA became...a lot less than that. Markets dried up here and there, friends left, or died, and I entered the grand stage of adulthood into a pandemic, on a world stage empty and void of many possibilities and opportunities I was "supposed" to be able to expect. Dreams and Goals of Software Development and Game Design were shot down by Disability. Luckily, before I racked up a college debt, at least.

Now-a-days, Payment companies think they have a "duty" to their patrons to restrictively moderate games and content that "may" violate viewer's morals. Not even paying customers, and not even laws.

Maybes and Mob's Morals.

Games, after seemingly finally getting over the Cancer and Infection that was DEI focused stories and development, and after stemming the bleeding caused by "licensing" and live-service models, are now subject to scrutiny based on a non-player's, non-buyer's, morals.

I believe the curse went, "May you live in interesting times".

Even so, I doubt I'll be gone for worse- the games I've been here for, and the friends, memories I made along the way- the lessons I've learned helped me through the thick and thin, with some of the worst life *can* throw added on for good measure. I was already broken anyway.

As it stands; "I Am Here"- even if I often wish I wasn't.

Maybe I'll add up to something yet, even if I have no reason to think that.
