Had 60+ hours of fun on this game until the balancing patch on 3/6/2024. I barely have the time to put into gaming anymore due to toddler, family, and work, but this game managed to capture me like not many have in the past.

Playing this game on Suicide Mission+ (7-9) is outright unplayable because this game does not give you the tools to handle the hordes of heavies the game throws at you. Anyone who tells you otherwise plays the game like a stealth mission or plays on difficulties 1-4. It should feel rewarding to level up, unlock new weapons/stratagems, and fully upgrade your ship. It doesn't. If the only way to deal with chargers is to spend 5 minutes kiting ONE around to kill, while you're being chased by 3 other chargers, a small horde, and 2 bile titans, that's not fun. This game used to be fun, if a bit inconsistent. For example, the spear, unlocked in tandem with the railgun, should feel great to use. It's ♥♥♥♥. You get 4 rockets which are not even guaranteed to deal with a lone charger, let alone a bile titan. You may get lucky and one shot one of them, but this game doesn't give you any consistent way to deal with those threats.

Nerfing helldivers' ability to dispense managed democracy while not providing adequate measures to deal with heavy threats is very unpatriotic. A PvE game should be FUN at the end of the day. This balance patch has made playing higher difficulties more akin to willingly dragging your nuts across sandpaper.

Update: wOuLd yOu LiKe To ReViSe YoUr ReViEw?

Game is back to being a little challenging but decently balanced. Would prefer to have a little more power overall, but as long as your squadmates don't eat paint, everything is do-able. Back to being able to mostly solo carry a squad of hurrdurrs.

But no, not recommending this game in the current state. Balancing still needs to be worked on, otherwise what's the point? Played after the 3/20/2024 patch and the game constantly crashes, can't even complete ONE mission. Excellent game.
