This is why I must get out of South Carolina:

"West Virginia serves the people of that state. It may be more economically feasible for that state to get out of the university business. They can downgrade WVU to a college with a handful of industry focused degrees. West Virginia could also negotiate an arrangement with its border states to accept those West Virginians to their universities at state tuition levels.

West Virginia is a 70 plus percent MAGA state. MAGA is focused on the traditional role of women, European descended cultural hierarchy and evangelical religion. They don’t have much use for Shakespeare, philosophy, physics, or African American history. They don’t have much interest in climate change either. Let WVU focus on engineering, teaching and accounting and leave the broader fields to those states and private universities that see value in them.
