Before I start, if you're only here to find out whether you should get the game or not - the answer is an absolute YES. Just, before you rush headfirst into things, make sure your machine can run it decently enough. The game is absolutely gorgeous and it'd be a shame not to experience it as best as you possibly can.

Now, for my actual review:
I must admit that I hadn't played RDR1 before, only watched the walkthrough on YouTube and found it rather boring and repetitive. When it comes to whether you should play RDR1 before RDR2 or not, it's more a matter of personal preference. It does give you a bit of an understanding of the gang and some character backstory, but you can probably do without that, too. I know people got really attached to Marston - I couldn't, and that's that.

On the other hand, RDR2 introduces you to a new protagonist: Arthur Morgan. As a character of moral ambiguity, you get to shape him up into the person you want him to be through the actions you take in-game. Not only that, but your choices also shape up the world around you. Albeit limited by the story, I really appreciated that degree of freedom and the amount of detail that brought the game's world to life. I don't believe I ever felt so immersed in a game before - it truly makes you realize what a powerful storytelling medium video games can be, when done right.

The story is amazing and the characters compelling. The music, along with the excellent pacing of the game, turns every mission into a memorable experience. Do yourself a favor and don't just rush through the story - as tempting as that may be. Take your time to explore, and just enjoy Arthur's little sketches in his journal :) the game world has a lot to offer: hundreds of hours later and you'll still stumble across something you hadn't noticed before.

The whole game was filled with pros for me. As for cons, I had little to no technical difficulties, thankfully. I could play just fine even though I was mostly gravitating around 20-25 FPS. This review is solely for the single-player aspect of the game, I can't really speak much about the online version. The weight behind your character's movement adds a LOT to the immersion, I must say, but can sometimes make movement kinda clunky. Probably feels a lot better with a controller, so might wanna look into that. I just think they could've done a better job on the PC port. Sometimes the weapons you were using get replaced when you start a mission and that's quite annoying, hopefully they'll fix it. Other than that, I have little, next to nothing to complain about and I can only hope that your experience will be a pleasant one as well. I have yet to see a flawless game, and RDR2 is definitely worth playing no matter what. As for the gameplay itself, things are kept fairly simple and obvious. It's nothing groundbreaking, but it fits in well with the story and pacing so you'll definitely find it gets your blood pumping well enough.

Anything else you'll have to see for yourself. What're you waiting for? Go get yourself the game and buckle up, 'cause you're in for a ride!
