incredibly niche complaint, but i find the vertical fov cap of 90 to be too restrictive & motion-sickness-inducing. i usually play with a 100-110 vertical fov in games, and the chromatic aberrations that cannot be turned off do not help with these issues.

in the first game, i played in 20-minute sessions before I did some ini-editing to fix up my fov & turn off chromatic aberrations. this time around, i thought the touted FOV slider and stuff would be enough, but they're still insufficient - which is a shame, because the game *does* actually run quite nicely and look pretty good.

just, why cap the fov slider at 90? and why do we still not have more options for turning off chromatic aberrations?

i spent many thousands of hours on this game growing up. it's actually heartbreaking how unsupported and spurned by Epic it and UT3 are.

always worth playing, community still exists. i wish the source was released so the community could modernize the rendering and windowing stack.

the most fun survival crafting game I've ever played. Great storyline and map design - it really is just like being inside Black Mesa with a dash of the SCP foundation. All roads lead back to the initial hub area, generally, and you can even be the forklift certified freight guy for the crew if you so desire :)

Early Access Review
to review this game first, i must first talk about deep rock galactic.

i have many hundreds of hours in Deep Rock Galactic, having hit Legendary 3 on all my classes and exhausted the depths of gameplay there. I only really stopped playing because it was at the point of "familiar enough with the per-mission terrain generation to see through the matrix and know what cave layouts will feel like". I love that game.

this is the first game I have ever seen that i would extremely lovingly describe as Deep Rock Galactic v1.5. And frankly, that feels like it does not give enough respect to Mycopunk.

This game is still in early access and not out yet as I write this. If you haven't heard of DRG yet, I recommend giving that a look if it's at all up your alley, because it genuinely will elevate your appreciation for Mycopunk, between the mechanics that are the same down to the progress indicators (looking at you, optional upload objective) to the things that are better (class movement, hits with primary refilling secondary ammo and vice versa, having a middle finger emote, PVP in the space rig, summonable f1 cars in missions).

also roachard is my beloved little freak of a guy. Turning mission control into literally the most divorced cockroach alive, and naming him Roachard was not expected but is certainly welcome!

edit: oh also they have Pathfinder's grapple from apex legends for all those movement freaks
