Early Access Review
In short, Dark and Darker is a mix of Diablo 2 and Escape From Tarkov. But this game is unique in a lot of ways. What makes it difficult is what makes it fascinating.

You really have to think about when you swing your sword, cast a spell, fire an arrow, or drink a potion. Some fights can genuinely be decided by one person standing to close to a wall or door frame and their swing bouncing off one of those objects. Or my favorite, hitting your funny bone on a wall while trying to cast a spell in a tight spot. These difficult and tactical fights make winning tough engagements feel very rewarding.

The game has a learning curve, but after a few roundss you get the hang of things and don't die to the gigachad skeletons as often, and if you need it there are resources on youtube and on the discord about how to survive effectively in the dungeon. The game is also very deep, so once you learn the basics, there is still more to learn, new bosses to kill, secret loot you didn't know about before, activities such as high risk golden key runs and mining ore to craft armor.

If you try the F2P version you will get hooked on the game. Whether you decide to upgrade at that point is up to you, but the amount of content you get for free is pretty substantial, especially with the changes they've made since the start of the F2P mode.
