I've played through every FROM souls game at least half a dozen times each over the years, so I would say I am a souls fan.

It's still early days but I think Elden Ring might be my favourite. If you're a souls vet, I can't imagine why you wouldn't love this game.

If you're more ambivalent to souls, I'll say Elden Ring might be the most easily accessible souls game so far, with a huge variety in HOW you actually play. You can explore the world and gear up easily before ever fighting the first real boss. If you're ever stuck, there's basically always somewhere else you can go instead, the amount of optional and secret content is truly staggering. Even many of the "required" bosses can be skipped over.

That said, it is still at it's heart a FROM souls game: If you hate soulslike combat you may find the core game here not to your liking.
