I thank you for your service Sir. Had the allies lost Stalingrad, they would've almost certainly won the war. I hope you focus on the greater good, and try your best to rid yourself of the demons and soul which you harbored in those days.
After the battle was over the soviet army moved their way up the clock tower. They recovered not 1000, not 1500, but around 4800 spent casings, and his sniper rifle left behind. Later they tried to find this man, but they couldn't link his fingerprints to anyone on file.
He only left behind a note saying (in russian, ofc):
"they ruined this city, they ruined my home, and in defending it, i believe they took my soul"
