In its current state... it feels like a mess. Gameplay balance just feels wrong at higher tiers of play. Events feel mediocre at best and very unrewarding for newer players. The current anniversary "event" is a single token gain per ship (tier 5-10 plus super ships) and then you cant gain any more... no possible way for newer players to get the "free" ship if you dont own a billion ships already. Many of the rewards (looking at you supercrates) have been nerfed hard because "one player owned a bunch of ships last year, so everyone else must suffer". What point is there to keep grinding if there is little to no reward??? Cannot recommend playing this game in its current state.
