If you are familliar with fighting games, than this is the game for you.
If you aren't so good, and want to start with this game. Good luck.

tl;dr

Pros;
Some amazing people in this community
Some Scrolls have high skill caps
"Exocores" change how you play the game, but some of them are really annoying, and take 0 skill to use. (Tactical Bow ._.)
Different maps with dfiferent playstyles, (1v1, Moon, Glacier, Risky Escape, Dos, the list goes on)
Very unique game, the closest game to rf is get amped 2, but that game feels clunky. (correct me if im wrong)
RedFox Games made two RC scrolls into Carat.

Cons;
Most of the community is absurdly toxic.
People might ddos you if you end up beating them in a match.
The annoying spammy scrolls.
The people who wont stop complaining about the spammy scrolls even though that makes them predictable.
Exocores that have huge aoe damage and can literally kill an entire room. (F U C K I N G T A C T I C A L B O W)
A brand new bug and/or glitch every patch.
Mostly RC items, but with the new update turning Sunmundo and Boxing into carat scrolls, maybe things are getting better.

This game is very fun and rewarding if you give it a chance, don't let the mostly toxic community get to you, there are some amazing people here, just avoid toxic players.

Good Luck!

(I'm not good at formatting these things so sorry if it's messy)

I have been playing since 2009/2010, and I still love playing this game.
Yes there is a ton of toxicity, but that doesn't mean everyone is an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, you'll meet some great people once you get going.
if you thought MOBA's or FPS game had a bad community, wait 'till you see RF's.

The tutorial has improved by a lot, and as you level up, you get different scrolls, and exocores. (not perm)
Once you hit level 9 you can open a box that gives you a random scroll, permanently. Same with an exocore at level 13.
(They might not turn out to be the best scroll and/or exocore, but its better than nothing. work with what you've got, scroll wise its all about skill.)

(Focus on saving carats for a scroll, look at some carat ones in the shop, youtube their movesets, and save up for one you like. Exocores are nice but scrolls you use constantly, they are how you play the game. Exocores are just special moves you can use for a bit of a match.)

Carats, the in game currency, can be tedious to obtain, If you want a good scroll without taking Mommy's credit card, you're gonna need to save up. It'll take a while but you will want to buy another scroll other than the scroll you get in the box.

RC; the currency in this game you have to pay, real money, to obtain.
If you don't have the time and or patience to save up Carats, you'll probably spend some money into this game either way. Most items released are RC, but RedFox games made some RC scrolls Carat instead, in the newest update.

Trading; there is none. If you want to trade a carat item for an RC item you've had your eyes on, you're probably screwed. There is a forum post with a list of trusted players willing to trade, but it's probably irrelevant by now. From 2007, 'till now, there is no real way to trade with somebody in game.

My personal advice is to play the game with whatever you have, and if you see a scroll that someone has that looks cool, ask them what it is, then go to youtube and look up said scrolls moveset.

Try to find a scroll that suits your playstyle. Do you like a fast hitting scroll? A scroll that is grab oriented? mind games? the list goes on. I wouldn't spend more than the money it takes to buy one scroll to main.
A lot of scrolls and exocores are boxed items only, but they certainly aren't the majority. Avoid boxes like the plague.

This game has a lot going for it, it's still one of, if not my favorite game out there.
There are lots of toxic players, but find and befriend the nice ones. This game gets dull without some friends to play with.

I'm not the best at writing or formatting these types of things, but I want to help any newcomers get into this game if they so choose.
