This is what modern gaming standards should look like.
Amongst a sea of battle passes, microtransactions, half finished games which promise to add more with DLC, ect, lies a few gems. This is one of them.

Abiotic Factor brings the best parts of gaming into one game: multiplayer, brilliant game design, deep and expansive lore, and a true sense of wonder.

The multiplayer feels like the intended experience, although singleplayer works just as well, it just feels a little more empty without friends to help you explore the world.

The game is brilliantly designed - every single element of the game has been intricately and meticulously designed, with each area and detail serving a purpose, with levels and areas always connecting together. When you explore a new area, you are constantly opening previously locked doors that connect back to old areas that you have since fully explored, really connecting the whole world together.

The lore of this game stretches deep, as you could probably spend days trying to piece together what has happened at this scientific facility you have just entered from all the snippets of dialogue and emails you read while exploring. I didn't pay too much attention to what was going on, and it isn't mandatory, but this is a key part of the game that will capture many people's interest.

Finally, this game does a great job of making you truly scared of the unknown. The game knows exactly how to unsettle you and throw you in the deep end, but without ever feeling unfair and always giving you a sense of knowing where to go or what to do next. The game will often present you with challenges which will seem impossible, daunting, or even scary at times (for those who have played the game reading, you probably know that I'm talking about the Leyak and the Composers), but a couple of hours later you will hardly recognise them as a threat.

I don't normally play first person games that much out of preference, but this one blew me away by how well it was done. At the time of writing I have not completed the game yet, but I have more than 100 hours at around 75% completion. The pace my party are progressing at is leisurely but not slow, so I can guarantee that this game is worth the cost.

Tldr; buy the game already. This is your type of game, regardless of what type of games you play.

I genuinely looked at the reviews and was surprised that I didn't find a single helpful review which wasn't trying to be funny at all right at the top of the page, which is obviously a sign that you should buy the game immediately no questions asked.

Early Access Review
I wouldn't recommend at the moment, because it's still missing a lot compared to the original, but I've still got hope for the devs to be able to fix this game. I'd get it, try it for a bit, play the original for a while, then come back to it in a few month's time when they fix the problems it's got.
