I beat this game after 120 hours and got to level 150 playing pure strength and enough faith to try some pyro spells. Overall I had a great time with this game and I do think it deserves the recognition its getting and widespread appeal. I was very disappointed with several of the games bosses and overall reuse of content to pad out the game to such an absurd length. I get a sense that most of the second half was rushed or minimally play-tested. In that sense it is the most like another Demon Souls, which also felt half baked is some areas and biting off more than fromsoft could chew at the time. I think things like ash summons and some VERY overpowered weapon arts are an attempt to compensate for a lot of content being unbalanced or unrefined for many builds. From what I can see magic is as overpowered as ever, but I did not play with it much in my play \through. That being said I have no desire at the moment to replay it, which is weird for a fromsoft game, and i owe that to the massive length of the game. I did not even come close to exploring all the little dungeons and side-quests. I could have easily put another 20-30 hours into clearing all the other side-content i ran past and who knows what all else there is to find. There are many samey bosses - you will fight some of them 10 or more times. The unique content and large "legacy" dungeons design is classic stuff and some of the finest in from's library, though.
