Amazing golden goose of a game being actively strangled by a AAA publisher* who, unsatisfied by the incredible mountain of cash, feels the need to use this captive audience as an opportunity to bolster their own subscriber numbers for their own ecosystem. When called out, they walked back the decision of forced account integration, and quietly left in country restrictions to align with the restrictions their ecosystem places on account creation.

There's no reason to keep these purchasing restrictions in place unless they intend to eventually go forward with forced account integration.

Shame.

Thank you Arrowhead Game Studios, I hope this project got y'all off the ground far enough to steer clear from publishers and start self-publishing going forward. I wish you the best in continuing to fight the fight for gamers to just be able to play your awesome game, that they purchased, with their friends, in countries that could easily run the game with no issues, aside from this forced walled-garden integration path. And I genuinely hope this experience doesn't dissuade you all from continuing to work in the industry. For dissenter out here, there's a legion of democracy who appreciates what you've created, and just doesn't want to be in the limelight.
