Hold C and aim your cursor (Mouse) on the item that has a Bodygroup such as a bike. You can re-change it's skin. But for something like a car that you got perhaps. Does have a Bodygroup. And then aim your cursor at the bodygroup thing. And click the thing that's showed up. If it's more than one on it. Then you have to aim your cursor on the item and click the newfound items.

i don't see a bodygroup option. does that only appear if i've installed a bodygroup or something?

It defines a group of meshes that can be turned on or off, or changed entirely.
