And I would not be classified as a deist as I do not know whether or not the higher power interferes with the world. Deists believe that the higher power set things in motion, but does not interfere in the affairs of the universe. Therefore I am classified as a theist, not a deist or an agnostic.

But I believe that the universe was probably created by a being or beings that have always existed, since that makes more sense than the universe coming from nothing. Therefore I am a Theist, which is a very vague description of someone who believes there is a higher power, but there is nothing more descriptive to describe me in a single word.

Also, if you believe in a higher power/afterlife, but don't know what it necessarilly is, you would be classified as a deist.
