Do not recommend.
tl;dr : CIV the Mario Party edition.

Bought the Deluxe edition.
Played III, IV, V, VI.
All these had continuity.
In this one you can end a turn, change Eras, and just like that all your units moved back to your closest towns, upgraded to the next tier, all wars suddenly ended (and many more things), in a Thanos snaps fingers manner (as a loading screen into the next era).

Disappointed by this game mechanic.
Would stick back to VI with extensions (which did the climate change mechanics more on point too, whereas in this installment it's completely random).
Lack of continuity is a general theme all in all here (even civ/leader wise, started as an American oriented civ ? Don't worry you can be French next era !).

Feels like a smartphone game overall.
