There are several families of Royal Long in China โ€” otherwise known as the Dragon Kings. Perhaps the most important are the Celestial Dragon Kings, but we have a real fondness for the four Ocean Dragon Kings.

They are the Guardians of Wetness in every form โ€” rain, river, and sea. They each control one of the oceans that surrounds the world, and have connections with the Jade Emperor, who tells them where rain is needed.

Say hello to Ao Qin (South), Ao Run (West), Ao Shun (North) and Ao Guang (East). Remember their names because if thereโ€™s a water shortage itโ€™s them youโ€™ll need to appease.

Theyโ€™ve had their ups and downs, particularly Ao Guang the Top Dragon, who suffered humiliation at the hands of practically everybody. In fact he was deposed for a while by Nezha, and his loyal brothers wasted no time in attempting a take-over bid.

Suffering from drought? Need rain urgently? Then turn to the Long Wang of the Oceans. Make them happy and theyโ€™ll be pleased to help. All you need to do is get them on your side.

Tip: These dragons absolutely love a party. If youโ€™re suffering from drought, get all the neighbors involved and hold the biggest street party you can manage. Buy fireworks, make elaborate dragon costumes, hire multitudes of musicians, and get ready for a good time. And then it will start raining.
