There's something else they say after someone dies, and it has to do with faith (which I have...serious problems with). It happens after the funeral, after the ceremony itself, in the house, when everyone has returned. The family, loved ones, and mourners return to the house, eating and drinking and reminiscing about the deceased. And sooner or later, someone is guaranteed to say the following (especially after a few drinks): "You know, I think he's up there smiling down on us. And I think he's happy." Well...for a start...there is no "up there" for people to smile down on. It's poetic and lofty, and a little comforting to superstitious people - but it doesn't exist. But if it did - if - and if someone somehow managed to survive death in a non-physical form, I think they'd be too busy doing other heavenly things to stand in the middle of Heaven and smile down on living people. What the โ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅ is this eternity? And how come no one ever says, "I think he's down there smiling at us"? Apparently it never occurs to people that their loved ones could be in hell! Your parents could be in hell right now, especially your dad! Yeah, there's a โ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅ ton of dads in hell. โ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅ hell. Even the ones who taught you how to play pool - just because they beat you too often. And for โ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅ your neighbor. And for โ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅ your neighbor's dog. And who knows, maybe even for โ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅ the mailman - how do we know what our dad had in mind? Parents in hell... I like that option better. And grandpa and grandma in hell - imagine that... Imagine your grandma in hell - frying pies without an oven. And if someone went to hell, I seriously doubt they'd be smiling. "I think he's down there yelling at us right now. And I think he's in a lot of โ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅ pain." People just don't want to be realistic.
