Tiled Map Editor

https://www.mapeditor.org/

Tiled supports editing tile maps in various projections (orthogonal, isometric, hexagonal) and also supports building levels with freely positioned, rotated or scaled images or annotating them with objects of various shapes.

If you are looking for a flexible 2D level editor for your game, be sure to give Tiled a try! Tiled is supported by a wide range of frameworks and remains in active development based on donations!

Free Software

I believe software should be free as in freedom, which means you are free to use Tiled for any purpose, to modify Tiled to your needs and finally to distribute Tiled, as-is or modified, on the same terms.

I accept voluntary payments to afford further Tiled development. You can choose to pay for Tiled here or support me on a recurring basis through GitHub Sponsors, Patreon and Liberapay. If you enjoy using Tiled and are able to chip in, please set up small monthly donation. Thanks!

Do someone know if I can export parts of my map to an .jpg oder .png?
Then I would LOVE to use this editor and it's asset-packs for my digital DnD 5e Campaign (World- and Battlemaps).

Any chance we could get the ability to sort Terrain Sets the way we can layers? I love your program but I have a large tileset that I'm constantly adding to and it gets really unwieldy adding new terrains and not being able to make the list order match their order in the image file without deleting and re-making them by hand.

I dont know what i would do without this

First of all - thank you for an awesome tool. And second - I actually wanted to let you know, that I've built a small CLI tool for converting TMX files to JSONs - same as ones generated by JSON export from Tiled itself (and perfectly understandable by phaser.io), but with two features on top of it:

- it analyses used tiles and exports a single embedded optimised tileset with a single corresponding png file, containing only tiles used in a map

- in source TMX it correctly handles both embedded and external tilesets

These features allow creating a set of TSX files shared between different maps, while still making it possible to easily import them into phaser.io game engine. Also, this tool is deliberately made CLI for ease of use in CI/CD, but if you wish to have this implemented in JSON export in Tiled itself please let me know - maybe I'll be able to implement similar changes on your codebase as well, especially when given a little bit of guidance on where best to start.

My 16px cell size image did not import correctly. The 16x16 I see in Unity is not the same 16x16 I see in Tiled.

theres a saving bug, try saving as rather than just saving, it fixed my TMX for stardew

An Android version is possible?

looks great! im trying to get the wang tool to work but it never shows up anywhere. tried a bunch of things like enabling all plugins, searching everywhere and enabling all toolbars. also tried downloading an older version but i keep getting v1.11 for some reason. what am i doing wrong? thanks

Since Tiled 1.5, the “Wang Tool” has been merged into the “Terrain Brush”. Whatever reference you found to the “Wang Tool” is probably a little dated, but should apply almost 1:1 to the terrains feature in latest Tiled.

If you do still want to use an older version, you can download old releases from https://github.com/mapeditor/tiled/releases.

Could you share the custom CSS used for this page? I really like it, mainly the new like button on comments.

(+2)

I’m not actually using custom CSS on this page. The different like buttons are an option in “Edit tool (or game) > More > Edit comments”, choose “Up only”. :-)

Oh I see, I didn't know that setting existed, thanks!

Can this convert to ASCII?

Hmm, the last version to work on Windows XP should be Tiled 1.8.6, but if you need to you can also go back to Tiled 0.8.1. :-)
