We’re not churchgoing people in our family, but the Christmastime traditions are well and alive in Poland. We’re hosting the dinner at our appartment this year and taking a nice trip to the nearby mountains afterwards!
I’m hoping to meet a friend who lives there and to start my son skiing.
I wish you all the best – whether you meet friends, love your family, give gifts, get gifts- however you choose to spend it, let it be warm, nice and safe.
The comic returns next week!
Love,
Totem
p.s. two filler illustrations I’m uploading are inspired by SimzArt’s witch-girl-love pics. Do give him a look if you’ve never seen them, I’ve been obsessed with them for the past year.
I have published Chapter 29: Double Teamed and the first Cummoner volume: Thirst Time for Everything for sale at the usual places! You can find them on Lulu, Itch and Patreon. Here are the direct links:
ComicDen, a Polish store has opened for international orders! You can get my books there and I’ll be sending them any new publications or reprints. The Cummoner will also be available there when it’s out!
A book needs a cover and I certainly wasn’t going to use any of the existing chapter covers for the printed book. But what to put on a cover? Vilga is the only main character of the first couple chapters (not counting Tuck who gets one chapter to himself) – so it was obvious she’d be the focus.
I made a few sketches to brainstorm ideas.
I decided which ones I liked best and made them into more fleshed-out sketches:
Design fixed by my friend BeleMy color interpretation of the design on the left
Despite the good reactions I wasn’t completely convinced by it. I just couldn’t think of a way to make covers for following volumes of the comic that would fit it, but feature different characrters. I also had a feeling that I’d like the cover to be more claustrophobic, with camera closer to the character, like in one of the earlier designs. So I made a new sketch that kept some of the earlier ideas:
I loved it, my wife loved it. My friend Bele said he preferred the other one, but then admitted that he just likes a different type of cover. Just like with anything related to my own projects, I decided to go with my gut and worked on this last design. Here’s how it evolved:
And that’s the current state of the cover! The wide design below is what I sent to the printer. It includes the spine, the wings and such. It might still get tweaked (in fact this might not be the latest version of it) or texts changed, but this is the overall vibe of it.
The Kickstarter for book 1 is live! Please check it out if you’re interested in the print version!
Over the next few weeks I’ll share more details on the book as I continue to work on setting it for print! I’ll make a post about my work on the cover and so on!
