FROM BLOCK�S GYMKHANA TO RED BULL�S SKY GYMKHANA

There are videos that trigger something familiar in your head even when they have nothing to do with each other. That�s what happened to me with the new aerial circuit from Red Bull. This madness where wingsuit pilots, paramotors and sky acrobats build a full-on gymkhana in mid-air, dodging planes, drones, buildings and anything else thrown at them. It feels like science fiction, but it�s all real people falling at 250 km/h.

And of course, keeping the distances �big ones� it�s impossible not to think back to those 2008 Gymkhanas, when the late Ken Block started sneaking YouTube videos of him pushing a car to the limit like physics was optional. He stayed glued to the asphalt, burning rubber and shaving cones. These guys carve through the sky, slicing air and slipping between planes like they�re inside a video game. But the feeling is the same: that �okay, this is no longer driving or flying� this is pure choreography�.





The great part is seeing how everything has changed in more than fifteen years. From a driver drifting a Subaru in an empty airfield, we�ve moved to people jumping out of helicopters to fly through obstacles hanging in the air. The toys change, the settings change, but the essence stays the same: humans pushing their limits just so you and I can stare at the screen thinking �holy shit�.

Red Bull�s version is basically a Gymkhana 2.0: more altitude, more vertigo, more danger and much more production. Block�s world was revs, drifts and the smell of gasoline. This one is speed, precision and ice-cold focus. But they share the same thing: that taste for turning risk into spectacle and chaos into an image that sticks in your head.

In the end, that�s what it is. Back then they blew our minds with cars doing the impossible on the ground. Now they do it with people thousands of meters in the air. And no matter how much the tech changes �cameras, drones, production tricks� we�re still the same kids who get hypnotized whenever someone dares to break the limits right in front of a camera.

FLYING WITH WINGS UNDER THE SUIT

What you see in this video isn�t just any wingsuit. It�s an experimental variant that adds an extra lift system beneath the suit: a vertical strut connected to a horizontal wing profile that looks a lot like the stabilizers on a miniature airplane.

The concept is similar to hydrofoils in surfing: those boards with a submerged wing that, thanks to hydrodynamics, lift the board above the water and let you glide even without waves. Here it�s the same idea, but in the air: the extra wing generates more lift force, letting the pilot turn part of the vertical drop into horizontal glide.

The result? A flight that�s more efficient and stable than with a traditional wingsuit. The added wing provides a better glide ratio, more control over trajectory, and the ability to cover longer distances before deploying the parachute. Technically, it�s a shift from simple controlled freefall to true assisted aerodynamic gliding.

It�s the natural evolution of the wingsuit: from the �birdman� to the human micro-glider. And from the outside, it looks like a hybrid between a flight suit and airplane wings. A true piece of engineering madness�and pure adrenaline.

NOT EVERY FLIGHT ENDS WITH A SMOOTH LANDING

Flying is one of those dreams most of us have had. Feeling the wind slicing across your face, gliding through the sky like it�s your natural habitat � and if you throw in acrobatics, impossible spins, and low passes just inches above the ground, it becomes pure adrenaline. Wingsuits and extreme paragliding have turned that dream into reality for a lucky � or daring � few.

But let�s be honest: part of the magnetism of these videos isn�t just how spectacular it is to see someone flying within centimeters of a mountain or pulling off a perfect loop. It�s that little tingle we get when we think, �What if�?� And yes, sometimes the �what if� happens: a miscalculated turn, a treacherous gust of wind, or a landing that doesn�t go as planned.

We�re not exactly rooting for the crash, but let�s admit it � when you play this close to the edge, there�s something in us that wants to see what happens if it goes wrong. FATAL WINGSUIT CRASH

They fly inches from the ground, skimming rocks, diving through canyons and forests, flipping gravity the finger along with every basic instinct of self-preservation.
And of course, sometimes, it goes wrong.

One of the clips in today�s compilation captures exactly that. Two people flying together, helmet cam rolling, slicing through a gorge at 200 to 250 km/h with barely a few meters between them and solid rock. The one in the back can�t pull up in time. You can tell he sees it coming, but there�s no space to react. He tries to lift, but it�s too late. He vanishes. Slams into the rock. That�s it.
The guy recording probably doesn�t even notice. At those speeds, with that level of focus, you�re not checking if your buddy�s still behind you. You�re just trying to survive your own flight.

This kind of flying isn�t just madness or showmanship. It�s ice in your veins, a sixth sense for terrain, and the ability to predict what�s about to happen before your brain even finishes the thought.
Because at those speeds, there�s no room for mistakes. No last-minute corrections. You either read it all right� or you don�t.
And not everyone does.

THE NEW DEVICE THAT TAKES FLIGHT TO THE NEXT LEVEL

Austrian wingsuit pilot Peter Salzmann has set three new world records in a single, exceptionally long flight. Equipped with an innovative wingsuit featuring foil technology, Salzmann achieved a flight time of 5 minutes and 56 seconds, covering a distance of 12.5 kilometers and descending 3,402 meters from Jungfrau mountain in Switzerland.

This breakthrough in wingsuit design, developed in collaboration with Red Bull Advanced Technologies, includes a 2.1-meter wing that significantly enhances gliding efficiency, allowing for longer and faster flights.

With this achievement, Salzmann has not only pushed the boundaries of human flight but also opened up new possibilities for the future of aerial sports.

THE MASSIVE BALLS OF WINGSUIT PILOTS

Wingsuit pilots have incredible precision. Before jumping, they plan everything: study the terrain, calculate altitude and trajectory, and control every movement in the air. They often perform several reconnaissance jumps with parachutes to familiarize themselves with the terrain at lower speeds and calculate their safety margins. The most impressive thing is their absolute nerve when flying so close to the ground or rocks, almost as if they know they won�t hit anything. There�s no room for mistakes. It�s all about pure control and confidence, knowing their trajectory to the millimeter.

The first video is a 2k24 highlight by Chase Reinford, a young adrenaline junkie who pushes his limits in every jump. A clear example is at 02:50, when he calculates the exact moment to open his wings and passes between two mountains. It�s simply spectacular. And at 04:34, he flies under a tree�not beside it, under it. Absolutely insane.

CROSSING LONDON'S TOWER BRIDGE

Parachutists Marco F�rst and Marco Waltenspiel became the first people to cross the iconic Tower Bridge in London wearing wingsuits. The two pilots reached a maximum speed of 246 km/h during their descent over the River Thames before performing a complex aerial maneuver to cross the bridge and then flying upwards to safely deploy their parachutes.
