Reporting content or behaviour

We’re making it easier for people to report unacceptable content or behaviour directly to us so that we can address these issues as swiftly as possible.

Safeguarding our community is crucial

One of Canva’s values is to empower others, and extending this to our efforts to safeguard our community is crucial. We aim to make it as easy as possible for people to report unacceptable content or behavior directly to us so that we can address these issues as swiftly as possible. Anyone can use this form(opens in a new tab or window) to report content that may be illegal, harmful to children or adults, or otherwise violates Canva’s policies.

To report library content, you can use our in-product reporting tools:

  • In Canva, select Elements or Templates and search for the content you want to report.
  • If you're using a mobile device, tap and hold the content until a menu appears. On a desktop, hover over the content and select "⋯".
  • Select Report.

Appealing actions taken on your content or account

Sometimes we make mistakes on content moderation decisions. To help us get it right, we give users the opportunity to reach out and appeal decisions about their content or account. We welcome getting more context and other information to make informed decisions.

Those who report content for violating EU or UK law can also appeal where they disagree with Canva’s decision.

Appeal rules

  • Time limit: Lodge your appeal within 180 days after the date you were notified of the decision (or otherwise became aware of the decision).
  • Information: Please ensure you include a detailed explanation as to why you are appealing a decision, and all relevant evidence to support your appeal. If we do not have enough information, we may not be able to process your appeal.
  • Intellectual Property: If you are lodging an appeal regarding an alleged intellectual property rights violation, please ensure you include all of the information required by our Intellectual Property Policy(opens in a new tab or window) (under the ‘Submitting a counter notice’ section) in your appeals form.
  • Abuse: We may take actions to restrict or prevent the processing of appeals from people who abuse our appeals channel.

There are 2 ways to lodge an appeal:

  1. Notifications: Where we have your email address, we will send you a notification detailing our decision on your content, account or a report you have made. Follow the instructions in this email to lodge an appeal.
  2. Appeals form: You can also lodge an appeal on our website by filling out this form(opens in a new tab or window).

What happens next

When you lodge an appeal, our moderation team reviews the content again. We’ll notify you of the outcome of your appeal.

For users, if your appeal is successful:

  • your content or account will be restored
  • any applicable strike will be removed from your account

For reporters, if your appeal is successful, we will take action against the reported content or account.

Depending on where you are located, you may have other appeal and redress options. For example, if you disagree with the outcome of an appeal, or believe Canva has removed or restricted access to your content or account in breach of our Terms of Use, you may be able to seek redress through an out-of-court settlement mechanism (where available in your jurisdiction) or by bringing a claim before a competent court.

For our EU users, we have more information here(opens in a new tab or window).

For our UK users, we have more information here(opens in a new tab or window).
