Creations in Black and White

Back to basic Black and white for a couple of Sympathy cards, I don't usually have sympathy or thinking of you cards on hand as I like to make them personal and these are the 5th and 6th I have had to make in the last little while. The first card I made with a poppy diecut in black on white.

the black poppies are layered on a white shimmer oval (from the "box")  attached to a Spellbinder fancy oval.  the white layer is embossed with a butterfly  folder.

The sentiment is computer generated from a Verse site.

Second card is very similar to one I posted earlier since the papers were still on my table as was the wildflower die cut.

Second card's sentiment is also computer generated from a verse site.

CAS is for Simplicity Day

Wow not only do we shop our stash we have to make it simple. Most of my friends and family know I do NOT make "clean and simple cards" I'm a pile it on kinda gal.  But for Mimi's challenge at Shopping Our Stash I made a ...... wait for it......a ONE LAYER CARD!!!  Please check out the main blog for an explanation of the challenge as Mimi has a much better one than I can give you. Here is my design team card for the challenge.

I can't believe I actually made a one layer card. First I taped the card with washi tape to have a white border, using a makup brush and a Kaleidacolor Blue Breeze ink pad (shesh probably 8 years old and never been used) I layered the background. In keeping with the frugal consumption I made my own shimmer spray with perfect pearls (probably had them for 10 years) and water in a mini spray bottle, I then spritzed the background. The stamps I used are from a retired Stampin'up set called Upsy Daisy,.

I hope you can see the fabulous sparkly paper.

Before I sign off I hope you noticed the fabulous watermarks Lee made for me I just love it in Black or in white.  Lee is the fabulous creator of Edna at the Sisterhood of Snarky stampers.

Well friends and family that's all until next week. Please check out the rules, the write-up of the challenge as well as what the rest of the design team made for the challenge.

Butterflies in Orchid....

Three more days left of the Hop to Stop Domestic violence at Becca's Blog, Damsel of Distress.  I was at a Stampin'up night and I took the opportunity to use the new floral die to cut a piece of white cardstock, didn't have a plan for it but as it was sitting on my desk  I decided it would look fabulous over purple and a new card design was born for the Hop to Stop. I layered the die cut over some sparkly orchid cardstock.

The butterflies are from Impression Obsession, the sentiment is from Stampin'up along with the oval punches, I added a few pearls to each of the butterflies and a few dotted around the background.

Close up of the sparkle.

Finished inside.

I had to make Sympathy cards a while back, I prefer to make Thinking of you cards and I also want to make them as personal as I can so they are never made ahead, which means I need an easy design. I have a couple of sets that work well, Thoughts and Prayers from Stampin'up is my favourite.  A couple of my friends didn't get to see my card and I said I would blog it when I had time.  So here is my Sympathy card.

I layered white on white with the one layer embossed with a cherry blossom embossing folder from the Cuttlebug Asian collection. I decided to make this very simple in black and white. If you don't have a butterfly die a simple bow would look nice on the stem.

I carried the simple design from the front to the inside.

Thanks for visiting today come back again soon, you are always welcome.
