Snow Cowboy

Time for the next challenge at FarmQuest, which always has a requirement that your projects have a "country" feel to them, plus a theme and this fortnight the theme is "Decorated Farmhouse Exterior or other structure."  I decided to combine a barn with Christmas decorations and a cowboy snowman; now I have one more family Christmas card finished.

I printed the image in very light grayscale, then colored it with my Sanjoki markers and with white gel pen on the snow.  I cut the image with a QuicKutz die and made the frame for it from two scraps of CS which were on the desk.

The background piece is dp I made myself using a red work embroidery pattern, sized down and then did copy/paste procedures several times to scatter the image over the paper.  I used the last bit of a washi tape roll as decorative ribbon, then added the image piece on top of it all.  I think it makes a great masculine card with a wonderful country flair.

     Challenges:

That's it for this time.  Come play in our challenge, won't you?  It runs until December 26 and we love seeing what you create.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Cowboy Owl

This card is doing double duty so you're going to see it today as my DT card for the FarmQuest challenge, where our theme for this challenge is Cowboy Boots, Spurs, or Hats.  Then, it'll serve as my  DT card tomorrow for QKR Stampede.  The image is from QKR and it's called "Cowboy digital stamp" and over there we always have an Anything Goes theme.

I colored the image using my watercolor paints, and added highlights with gel pens.  The image and the frame were both cut with Cuts stitched dies.  The background paper is actually vellum and it just worked so well with my colors in the image.  The sentiment was printed and cut with an Avery Elle die.  I love this crazy owl all dressed in his cowboy garb.  lol

     Challenges:

Be sure to visit both of the challenges and we hope you'll come and play along with us.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Country "Cowboy" Angels for Halloween

Here we are starting another challenge at QKR Stampede and I think these two adorable images (merged together on this card) make perfect Halloween costume ideas.  :-D  I know when I was a child, I wanted to be an angel for Halloween one year and a cowgirl another year, but I never thought about combining them into one costume.

"Cowboy Angel" and "Cowgirl Angel" were both colored with water color paints and glitter was added to their wings and halos.  I cut the image piece with border dies from Spellbinders both top and bottom, then used my Fiskars paper cutter to trim up the sides.  Both the red and the blue background pieces were scraps from the basket, and I dry embossed them using my Linen EF.  The sentiment was printed and cut with an Avery Elle die.  I inked the edges of the sentiment with ProMarkers, keeping in mind the diagonal line of the background.  It wasn't a perfect match up but close.

     Challenges:

You really should come and play with us this month.  Our challenges are always "Anything Goes" and we choose 2 winners from each challenge.  The first winner is randomly chosen from those who entered using QKR Stampede images and the second is a random winner from all other entries.  We have challenges starting on the 1st and the 5th of each month.

     Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

The Big Wheel Sheriff

That post title should have piqued your curiosity!  :-D  It's Friday and we have another new challenge starting at QKR Stampede.  As always, our theme is "Anything Goes" but we have an optional twist each time which you can use if you choose.  This week the optional twist is "Wheels."  I know, I know, my mind jumped right to cars, trains, wagons, etc., too, but this little guy caught my eye and I just had to use him!  This is a QKR image called "Little Cowboy."

I just love that his stick pony has a wheel on it (just in case you missed it.)  I was thinking about my friend, Lynn, from Texas when I was putting this card together and, since her favorite color is blue, that became the focus of this color combo.  I colored with my ProMarkers, then die cut the image with a Sue Wilson die.

I used the same die to cut the dp (from Stampin' Up) and inlaid the image into it.  I did the sentiment in white on a blue background just to emphasize why our little sheriff is wearing all white. :-D  Everything went onto a black card front.  Finally, I added the twine and the cowboy charm and called it finished.  I think it's going to make a great masculine birthday card for some young boy.
