Layout #16 for Scrap-tures

Ta-dah, here is the layout in its entirety! What do you think? The photo was taken at Femsport before the first event, and I was really super nervous, but I'm glad I remembered to take this shot. It goes so great with the patterned papers from the Scrap-tures April kit. Just about everything on this layout is from the kit, although I did add the Thickers, crocheted trim, and little star bead from my stash. This month's add-ons to the kit were a beautiful acrylic stamp set from My Mind's Eye, and some Ranger Perfect Pearls (in white), mini mister, and brush, so I used those along with some Ranger Perfect Medium ink (much like Versamark) to make my own PP on the yellow Bazzill cardstock. Don't you love the shine? All of the patterned paper is from the new MME Stella and Rose line, and I really loved both sides of the ledger paper, so I cut a chunk from behind my photo to save for later. Every month's kit comes with an exclusive sketch from Kristine Davidson of Creative Scrapper's fame, so I used the sketch for this layout but flipped it around to suit my photo. Then all I had to do was add some journaling and a couple of accent pieces (some gorgeous brads, a date sticker, and a chipboard piece, all from the Stella and Rose line) and it was a done deal. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out, so I hope you like it too. Starting tonight at 8 p.m. I believe, Scrap-tures is having their Retro Road Trip Crop. It's an online crop, and there'll be all sorts of challenges suited to get those old, old photos scrapped. I hope you'll join us in the forum - it is free and open to everyone (meaning you don't have to be a kit club subscriber to join and play along). This might be my last chance to scrap for a while, because the move day is fast approaching and my stuff is getting packed, aaaahhhh! I'll feel like I have a piece of me amputated without my scrap stuff!!!

A little smidge of a peek!

Here it is, just the tiniest little peek of my Scrap-tures layout. What do you think of the Perfect Pearls, yum yum, and that GORGEOUS patterned paper?! Seeing I can't share the whole layout yet (rules, ya know!) and I don't have anything else scrappy to post, I thought I'd show you this photo I took on my way down to Kamloops last week. Just before Cache Creek, I spotted these guys beside the road. My teammate and driver drove a little further, then said, "Hey, do you guys mind turning around so I can get a photo of that?" I didn't think they'd still be there, but they were! I felt like titling this photo, "How you doin'?" But you have to say it in that Joey Tribiani voice. And if you don't know who Joey Tribiani is, there's no hope for ya! Okay, I'm slightly delirious from the stress of my life, so I will end this post now. Enjoy!

Wow!

This was how I felt when I found my Scrap-tures kit waiting for me at the post office!

Just a quick post to say that I'm back from my little spring break holiday, and rarin' to go with my new Scrap-tures kit. It is jam packed and totally awesome! Still can't show it to ya, but I can show you this:

Here's me pushing a car (well, a 4,000 lb Jeep Cherokee, if you want to get technical!) and flipping a 250 lb tractor tire at Femsport in Kamloops on Saturday. And that's what I do on my Spring Break. Not exactly relaxing, but fun just the same! Stay tuned for more deets!

Scrap-tures Guest Designer

I am on a bit of a holiday right now (spring break and Femsport), so this is a scheduled post to let everyone know that I am thrilled to be a Guest Designer over at Scrap-tures (http://scrapturesblog.blogspot.com/) this month! Woo-hoo! I won a previous kit from this new Canadian kit club a while back, and I just loved it, so now I am totally stoked to return from my trip to find a brand new April 2011 kit waiting for me at the post office! I have an idea of what's in it, but I can't tell ya yet, it's still a secret. The team at Scrap-tures have plenty of challenges for me this month, as well as an on-line crop (whaaaat?) so stay tuned for my creations. Also, Scrap-tures has a wonderful forum (http://www.scraptures.ca/forum/) and gallery (http://www.scraptures.ca/gallery/) (that I'm just starting to figure out!) that anyone can join - that's right, you don't have to be a kit club member. I hope you'll play along with me!

Layout #14 - Scrap-tures Spring Challenge

Just a quick post to show you this layout I completed, hopefully in time, for Scrap-tures blog challenge this week: Spring! These moose have been hanging around for a while now, and you can see in the photo of the baby that he's missing a patch of hair. Poor guy, not sure what happened to him. Anyway, it's not very often you can get close enough to a moose to capture a decent photo, so this was pretty neat to see them right outside our fence. Our neighbour isn't too happy, though - they were munching on his willow trees! I don't know about this layout though. It's kind of blah, don't you think? Not sure what I could've done with it to spruce it up, maybe some green around the journaling card? I'd like to hear your opinions! Oh, this is a GREAT Page Maps sketch from the winter issue of Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine.

Supplies: Cosmo Cricket papers, Prima journaling card, Creative Memories pen, TLC letter stickers, CTMH White Daisy ink, unknown date stamp, ribbon, and twine

Little Girl Card For JUGS and Scrap-tures

I started to make this card for Some Odd Girl's Digi Day Challenge, but I guess I didn't read all the fine print and missed the deadline. Woops! I used a sketch from Just Us Girls, and I used lace for Scrap-tures January 8th challenge, although you can't really see the lace that well in the photo. I really like how this card turned out, and I think it will make a great b-day card for some little girl. Do you like my machine-stitched photo corners? This image is Star-Bright Tia, and she's a freebie from Some Odd Girl. You should definitely snatch her up this month! I think she is so adorable, and very fun to colour!

Supplies (all CTMH): You Rock Level 2 paper pack, Shining Star My Acrylix stamp set, White Daisy and Outdoor Denim Exclusive Inks stamp pad, blending pen

Other: unknown lace, Some Odd Girl image, Ranger Distress Stickles, Copic markers

First Layout of the Year and My First Blogger Award!

I wasn't quite ready to put away my Christmas papers, especially the new ones I won in Roz's blog candy, plus I really needed to scrap this photo from last year. I remember the kids posing for their photo, and everyone milling around the craft fair saying a collective, "Aaaaawww!" They both looked so adorable with their biggest smiles on! The process of making this page was quite involved, but I love the result, with the Glimmer Mist, sewing, felt, ribbon and twine, buttons...really, what more could you stick on a page? I'll be entering this page is three different challenges:

1. Creative Scrappers - used sketch #137
2. Scrapbooker's Anonymous - use 17 buttons (count 'em!)
3. Scrap-tures is having a month-long challenge for their anniversary - challenge #2 is to have Santa or someone in a Santa hat featured in your project

Supplies: patterned paper by Little Yellow Bicycle and unknown, Close to My Heart ink, stamps, pen, and felt, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, unknown ribbon, twine, buttons, and journaling spot
I "met" Carole from England through the December Daily album process, and it was really nice to get to know her and see how her family celebrates December across the world. Some similarities, but many differences! The other day, Carole nominated me for this "Stylish Blogger Award", and I'm so excited because this is my first award! Thank you so much, Carole!!! The rules of this award are to tell everyone 8 things about myself, and then pass it on to 4 other people. So, 8 things, hmmmmm, I'll try to make it interesting:

1. I have dual Canadian/Australian citizenship, and I'd love to try living in Australia one day.

2. My baby teeth were riddled with cavities and fillings, but my adult teeth don't have any (knock on wood)!

3. I was a competitive gymnast for 9 years. As a kid, I was known to flip whenever I saw wide open spaces, like fields, parks, or grocery store aisles. My poor unsuspecting mom was kicked in the stomach a couple of times, and I drove her bonkers rolling onto and off of the couch compulsively! I still want to do handstands when I see a grassy field, but if I follow that urge, it really hurts (and it's kind of embarassing)!

4. I had hernia repair surgery when I was 13. The doctor was shocked: he'd never seen a hernia that large in a young girl before. I blame it on lifting heavy gymnastics equipment.

5. For the longest time, I wanted to be a stuntperson in Hollywood!

6. My first scrapbook was created with only photos, one pair of decorative edge scissors, and a box of felt pens. It is very funny to look at now!

7. I usually have 2 or 3 books on the go. Right now I'm reading Play Dead by Harlan Coben, Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer, and A House for Mr. Biswas by V.S. Naipaul. I have a bad habit of reading ahead (my dirty little secret!) that I'm trying to quit. So far, I'm not succeeding!

8. I think if I had to, I could live off of peanut butter toast. That, or pizza!

And now, I'm sending this award on to Jenn, Roz, Alison (who I also "met" through the December Daily album), and Karen B way over in Australia. I think you all rock, and I hope you enjoy your Stylish Bloggger Award! I can't wait to read your 8 interesting tidbits!

Layout #77 - Get Picky

This picture is from 2 and a half years ago when my mom treated me to a trip to Hawaii (yeah, she's pretty special!) That's her on the right, and my aunt came as well. We went to a luau, and this is the photo that they take of you as you get off the bus. It felt kind of cheesey, and then they sucker you into paying $20 or something to get the photo at the end of the night, but it is a good shot of the three of us! It was our first luau, and we laughed our butts off the whole time - it was a riot! I am entering this into the Get Picky inspiration challenge for November. The photo they have for inspiration is full of pastel colours, and banners, so I incorporated these into my page. I also added some glittery swirls inspired by their swirly lollipops. I used a sketch I saw on the Scrap-tures blog last week for Finally Friday sketches, and it is one from Got Sketch, although I couldn't find it on their blog. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Supplies: Bazzill and CTMH cardstock, CTMH Tickled Pink and unknown patterned paper, Little Yellow Bicycle letter stickers and epoxy button, CTMH hemp, Ranger Distress Stickles, Creative Memories and Sakura pens, unknown chipboard and fussy cut flower (courtesy of Mel!)
