Dash to Make it Monday! - Glitter Trim

Ok, I know...this is really getting scary now!  ha!  I guess I've found a renewed sense of stampiness, or something. :)  Since playing in a few other challenges/hops, I found this fun challenge, called the 10 minute craft dash.  I thought it looked kind of fun, and figured why not give it a shot??  I decided to combine it with this week's Make it Monday challenge of die cut glitter trims.

Note to self: when doing a timed challenge, probably NOT a great idea to incorporate glitter...especially pink glitter...especially when you are wearing black..just sayin'.

OK -- so here's the craft dash challenge colors:

Here's what I did with them:

I'm pretty happy with how this turned out...AND I got it done in less than 10 minutes!!!

What are some of your favorite challenges to participate in??
Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies (all PTI unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Stylish Sentiments: Birthday, Heart-2-Heart #6
Ink: Hawaiian Shores, Raspberry Fizz, Dark Chocolate
Paper: Dark Chocolate, Select White, Raspberry Fizz, Hawaiian Shores
Accessories: Heart border die

Make It Monday - Pinwheels!

Well, helllooooooooo strangers!!  It's been a long time since I've been over here at the blog - and I'm SO sad about that!!  It's been a whirlwind with the holidays, and a bunch of other things in "real life" that I haven't been too crafty - nor ready to post anything here.

The New Year started off well - my husband (an Electrician) has decided to go out on his own instead of working for a contractor...this is a HUGE, SCARY step - but each day, I am encouraged more and more that this was the right step.  My girls are SUPER busy with activities, which is another big reason I haven't been around much!  All this running around, I'm POOPED by night time (which is when I usually create!  Talk about stealing your mojo!)

Anyhoo -- I really adored the challenge this week over at Papertrey - the Make It Monday challenge this week was to incorporate a handmade pinwheel into your project.  I'll be honest, I didn't actually WATCH the video before I started, and I thought I was so clever to use some patterned PTI paper back to back, only to find out it was IN the video, lol.

Here's my take:

I went big and bold -- a cheery happy card, I think!  The sentiment was embossed with white EP, and I made the background on the base with the Hello Sunshine stamp set.  It felt great to create - and I hope this is the jumpstart I needed to get back in the game!  Thanks for popping by!

Supplies (All PTI unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Think Big Favorites #15, Hello Sunshine
Ink: Versamark, Hawaiian Shores
Paper: Hawaiian Shores, Summer Sunrise Patterned Paper Pack, Raspberry Fizz Patterned Paper Pack
Accessories: White embossing powder, Recollections frosted jewels, Royal Velvet Vintage buttons

Make it Monday #63 - Die Cuts with Glitter

Heeeyyy - long time no see, lol.

Life always seems to get in the way, and I just never get around to posting.  I had to make a couple of birthday cards today, and one of them just happened to fit the current Make-it-Monday challenge, on Nichole Heady's blog, so I actually took a picture of my card, and here I am! :)

This was for one of my favorite little guys, who just turned 4.  I know glitter isn't usually a 'guy' thing, but I used very manly colors, so I thought it was ok ;).

I stamped LOTS of stars from Star Prints and Super Stars for the background on base layer in Fresh Snow and Classic Kraft ink.  The sentiment is from Birthday Bash Sentiments.  Then I die cut my stars (Spellbinders Nestability Stars) from Enchanted Evening, Orange Zest and Simply Chartreuse CS.  Put them through the ol' Xyron, and covered them in coordinating Martha Stewart Glitters...well, except the blue.  That one I used a lighter blue glitter, and then used a navy blue copic, and airbrushed it darker.  All in all, a fun card for a fun little boy.

Thanks for popping by -- Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Supplies:
Stamps: Star Prints, Super Stars, Birthday Bash Sentiments
Ink: Fresh Snow, Classic Kraft
Paper: Classic Kraft, Enchanted Evening, Orange Zest, Simply Chartreuse
Accessories: Martha Stewart Glitter, dimensionals (SU!)

Make it Monday # 53

Coasters, huh?

Just by chance, I happened to get some of these in the bag of goodies I received when I was lucky enough to go to Nichole Heady's house last month, so I figured I had no excuse NOT to play along!

I also, just happened to need a Valentine for my Valentine ;).  I used my Mat Stack #4 die on my coaster, and then I spritzed a little water on the coaster.  Then I brayered it with Canyon Clay ink (I didn't have the refill, so I did the best I could!).  Then I broke out some smooch spray (I think it was spun sugar, it's the only one I have) and since the nozzle wouldn't unclog, I had to get unconventional.  I grabbed an extra piece of scrap paper, and I pushed the nozzle stem down on the paper a bunch of times, then I used my brayer to pick up the spritz, and rolled it onto my coaster.  Now it was time to run it through the Cuttlebug with my woodgrain impression plate.  Funny thing, my coaster must have been a little TOO saturated, because it squeezed a lot of ink and water out onto the plates! lol.  BUT -- when I added the dark chocolate ink (direct to paper) it gave it this awesome look, just like a real piece of wood.

I die cut 2 hearts from Canyon Clay CS, and stamped them with the heart image from Love and Marriage, and then used my Vintage Touch tea dye inks around the edges.  I Stamped the block of famous couples down the side of my base from Rustic Cream CS in Canyon Clay ink, and the sentiment in Dark Chocolate ink, completed with 2 small gems.

I hope you had a nice Valentine's Day - mine was simple and quiet...just the way I like it! :)  Thanks for stopping by!!  Have a great week!!

Make it Monday #51

Another week, another challenge over on Nichole Heady's blog.  This week's Make it Monday challenge is to add a dimensional sentiment banner to your project.  I needed a card for a dear friend of mine, and she's very Irish, so I thought it might be fun to base it on luck!

I pulled out my Wonderful Words dies, and Wonderful Words Additions stamp set.  Hmmmm.....now what?

Yes! Some polka dots...why polka dots?  I don't know, thought they would just work well, ha ha.  I used my Mat Stack #1 die (thank you Nichole! ha ha) and cut a piece of New Leaf CS.  I stamped the medium sized polka dot pattern from Polka Dot Basics in Versamark, and set aside.

Then I stamped a random background in Fresh Snow ink on a Kraft base with the Dot Spot stamp set.

I die cut my 'lucky' from Kraft CS, and glued it to the Mat Stack #1 die cut, but only in a few spots, and let it come up off of the layer a little in a few spots to add dimension.

Then I added the remainder of the sentiment on a 1/2" strip of white CS.  The backside was stamped with the small polka dot pattern from Polka Dot Basics in New Leaf ink that was stamped off once.
Thanks for dropping by!!

Supplies (All PTI unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Polka Dot Basics, Dot Spot, Wonderful Words Additions
Ink: Fresh Snow, True Black, New Leaf
Paper: Kraft, New Leaf, Select White
Accessories: Mat Stack #1 die, Wonderful Words dies, Jolee's shamrock bling sticker

Make it Monday #50

Hello and Happy New Year!  Well, here on the blog anyway!

My family and I enjoyed the holidays this year, very relaxed and just plain wonderful!  We are so blessed.  I just came back from a special trip that I will be sharing details of soon!

My trip revitalized my mojo, and I am SO THANKFUL!! :)

I decided to participate in this week's Make it Monday challenge over at Papertrey Ink.  This week's challenge was to incorporate a shaker box on your card.  It's been a while, but I love making these fun cards.

The background was made with Fancy Flourishes, and Winter Penguin on Hawaiian Shores cardstock using Fresh Snow ink.  The shaker box uses Limitless Layers 1.75" circle dies, as well as the Delightful Doilies dies, and my favorite little penguin.

Lastly, the sentiment (from Hello, Friend) was added using the Skater Dude die, which I trimmed off the end that went off of the Hawaiian shores layer.

Thanks for stopping by!!

So Merry...

Happy Saturday!!

All things Christmas are in full swing around here!  The tree is decorated, the outside lights are up, and we are all in the spirit...MOST of the time, anyway ;).

Tonight is our town's tree lighting ceremony and parade.  The kids are looking forward to it, and so am I. :)

I loved the Make it Monday challenge over on Nichole Heady's blog this week, the challenge was issued by my friend Dawn, who just loves ruffly ribbons :).

I pulled out a few of my new (or like new, as in, unused) Papertrey goodies, and got to work.

My base is Aqua Mist, covered with white 'lattice' made from the new Quaterfoil die.  Then I made my wreath with two pieces of Simply Chartreuse saddle stitched ribbon, cinched, and layered on each other.  I added some "berries" and a little red felt bow I found in my stash.

The sentiment is a die cut from the Wonderful Words: Holiday die set, and mounted on a strip of kraft CS that is stamped with the snowflakes from the SUPER cute Winter Penguin stamp set...c'mon $5??  AWESOME!

Thanks for dropping by today -- a few things to do before we head off to the festivities in town!!  What are some things YOU do in preparation for the holidays??

Have a great weekend!

Fun Foam Make it Monday!

Happy Sunday!  WHEW!  I can't believe another weekend is almost over!!  We've had a great weekend of celebration, I'll share more about that a little later this week, but for today, I've got the card I made for PTI's Make it Monday challenge this week :).

This week's challenge was to use die cut fun foam.  We have no shortage of fun foam in my house, with two little girls who love to do projects, so that was the easy part.  I decided to do some of those fun little rolled flowers, using the foam.  So I broke out my 1.75" Limitless Layer dies, and die cut some foam, then cut a spiral into each one, and rolled them into little flowers, that I positioned on the large leafy image from Turning a New Leaf.

Finished off with a sentiment from Round and Round, some Hibiscus satin ribbon, and a few harvest gold buttons.  Thanks for stopping by, off to prepare for the work week!!

Have a great day!!

Supplies:
Stamps: Turning a New Leaf, Round and Round
Ink: New Leaf, Hibiscus Burst
Paper: Select White, True Black
Accessories: 1.75" Limitless Layers dies, Hibiscus Burst Satin Ribbon, Harvest Gold Vintage Buttons

PTI Go-To Sentiment Card...

So, I've been wanting to participate in the PTI challenges going on this week, but have had a few obstacles... 1 being, for the first time since BEFORE CHRISTMAS, I've had to work a FULL week this week! LOL.  I'm still sort of in disbelief about this...ha! I'm EXHAUSTED!

Secondly though - the other issue is I've been taking my photos outside since one of the lights for my tent broke...and since I work all day, I only get to stamp at night...and by the time I get to photograph...too late!  I just might catch up and play along anyway, because there's lots of fun challenges going on!

ANYWAY -- enough blah blah blah, I know, I'm getting on with it.

The challenge for the first Make it Monday challenge was to create a "Go-To Sentiment Card"  I tried -- I kind of feel like I more made a background paper out of sentiments...but I'm going with it, and I'll keep trying on my own, just because I thought it was a neat idea.  This will be my hubby's valentine this year.

I went through all of my sets and pulled out all of the "love" sentiments, and got to work.

I've added the three little hearts from Wonderfully Whimsical, as well as one of the hearts from Heart Prints for accents.  I'm fairly satisfied with how this turned out - I will definitely be trying this one again!!

Thanks PTI for the challenge, AND for the opportunity!!
