Wax Seals - Initials LW in Frame

Size 1.5"sq
I'm still not happy with doing 3 layer wax seals that have the large frame mold design. Too many bulges or not good definition... One day I'll get it...but since I was trying out another of the frame stamp molds I got, c'est l vie...
So I melted the violet color which is as close to pink as I could get (her favorite color) to create the frame - that I'm happy with. Then I used transparent wax for the calligraphed letters done on Canson Mixed Media paper ( the one in the circle is pretty good, - the other one is a bit less visible - transparent wax too thick). Then the gold in the larger molds - not so good. Again those big bulges trying to get the wax to move into the crevices. sigh!!

Wax Seals - Roses Red/White In Scalloped Circles

I had some time on Thursday while it was raining and chilly outside... so decided to play with my wax seals.

I used my electric wax warmer (LOVE that thing) along with my candle burner from Spellbinder's that I recently bought instead of holding my spoon over a candle...

I had done a few before I got what I wanted and of course re-melted what I used getting a nice variegation of white/red mix perfect for a rose. Then melted a combo of gold/bronze/copper and pressed the rose into that. This stamp doesn't have a border so trimmed away the rolled edge and placed into my silicone stamp mold (it has 6 shapes and I like the scalloped and larger scallop shapes the best, although I like the stamp shape one too...

I'm pleased with the results. I think I'll put them on greeting cards with some of my calligraphy. We'll see.

Wax Seal - 3 Color Bee

I've had wax seal stuff for eons. Used to use them for some envelopes and decorative stuff and then just left it in my misc drawers... So recently I resurrected my stuff and had created a 3 color wax seal that was a bit sloppy so decided to try again. This time I warmed my metal seal to soften the wax to scrape off the excess wax on the 1st pouring.
Then I saw a post by Breanna Chupik from The Paper And Ink Boutique about heating her stamp seal also and decided to write about mine...
I just used a candle burner from Spellbinder's that I just bought instead of holding my spoon over a candle like I used to do... much easier. Melted the gold wax, poured and heated the seal and scraped off (most) of the excess. You can see a bit of it mixed into the purple color... I kind of like that. Then heated the purple and poured and scraped the excess, then poured my white. It was a little too small a circle, hence the not quite round shape... I'll get better with practice. Big Grin

Newsprint - Xmas Ornament

size: 2.5"dia x 3.5"

Created a template of half the shape I wanted from cardstock. 3"h x 1.25"w

Using a very old cheap outdated encyclopedia paper, folded in half and placed my template against the folded edge. traced the template, then  cut out (I folded 3 pages at a time since it's very thin paper). Cut 24 shapes.

Adhere one half to another half and glue from the folded edge to the outer edge in a  straight line approx. 1/2" down from the top, then at the mid point and then about 1/2" from the bottom.

Adhere the next half in straight lines from about the 1/2 from the top and 1/2" from the bottom. continue gluing in this sequence.

(Not sure why it's glued this way...)

Before gluing the last one to close the ornament, adhere a string down the spine for hanging, then glue the last fold together. I added the beads as decoration.

Toilet Roll Snowflake

size: 5"sq x 1/2" thk

Used 3.5 toilet rolls... Squished the toilet roll flat and cut at 1/2" increments. Painted the large ones with silver acrylic paint, both sides. Adhered together at the center point.

Cut the next 3 strips in half at both ends, painted them gold. Adhere inside the silver loops.

Continue cutting the loops in half at both ends and painting in copper for the outside loop design.

I punched a small hole in my top loop and strung my cord adding a bead in the loop.
