Terminal Walker
A downloadable game
The year is 2029.
AI has developed the perfect video game slob that works as a drug and forces humanity into eternal slavery. Only a rare breed of retro game freaks is immune to the thread. So you decide to stop the AI by pulling the plug. But unfortunately it has its own nuclear reactor embedded into its datacenter. Further analysis shows, it has killed off all human employees and scientists and now acts completely independent with its converted maintenance robots. Desperate to save humanity, you have to enter the underground lair and blow up the reactor.
The underground datacenter is comprised of 16 levels with increased difficulty, connected by various elevators. The defending robots are repurposed maintenance and cleaning units, resulting in slow speed, limited sensor abilities and limited βweaponsβ range, giving you a good chance for evasion and stalking. Weapons and armor upgrades are left in the tunnels by the original crew and can be used to improve your stats. Your equipment will be less than adequate at the beginning, so sneaking is your best option in the early levels.
To blow up the reactor, four preliminary controls have to be disabled to allow overheating the reactor in the lowest level. You will then have a limited time period to exit the lair.
Every elevator is a save point, so you will never lose a lot of progress when killed. All robots will respawn when using an elevator.
The game is designed for PAL and NTSC. The disk version requires a real 1541 or true drive emulation for the fast loader. The single load prg will work on any system, but lacks the intro screen.

Good game, fun to play. I added it to my video among other games released in December.
Awesome game that impresses above all with its clean technology and very fast 3D rendering. Unfortunately, it's a bit too hectic and sometimes quite unfair. Our German-language review can be found at 01:25:14. English subtitles are also available. Subscribing to our YouTube and Twitch channels is welcome. π
You would not assume your enemies to play fair or an action game to be slow? If you play a stealth/puzzle game like a shooter, your experience may not be as expected. Do a quick read of the first page of the walkthrough document with the tactic tips and you may have a better experience and progress.
That's no problem at all. There are plenty of other games we're more comfortable with. Everyone has different tastes. π It's still a nice game, though. With that in mind: Merry Christmas and see you next time. ππ
Hey, I hope you don't mind, but I placed your awesome game into the best C64 homebrew games of 2025.
Finished it yesterday, used the walkthru for some of the loot boxes and tricky switches and then to finally get out of the complex on time (which is so tight I had to retry like 20 times!), otherwise not so hard to navigate thru, still can be disorienting. Enjoyed a lot! Fast 3d maze game with big mecha walkers sprites, who knows it's possible on the old C64!
Wow. Itβs incredible that this works so fast and looks really good! I recently started using your oscar64 compiler. Very good project π
Interestingly, when I turn the game screen upside down, it reminds me of another game whose speed mechanics could use some improvement - perhaps using your method. That would be fantastic! :-)
Oh, Turbo Esprit? Well, personally I didn't enjoy that particular old game. However Termiinal Walker is awesome :)
If you read the original instructions, it's not such a bad game - for example, the programmers built fuel consumption and refueling services into the game. At first glance, it looks like a very weak game, but it's very detailed on the inside. The main problem is the poor speed mechanics - the ZX Spectrum version of the game was much faster, and people liked this game much better on that platform.
Seriously impressive!
Great Game !!!
Absolutely stunning and really pushes the C64 to its limitations. Superb audio and visual. Highly addictive. It is one of your best games so far since Soiled Iron and Corescape. Well done.
Whoa that looks fricking amazing! Can't wait to try it out! <3
Great game, thanks.
very good
Awesome game!
Thank you! :-) Terminal Walker (2025, drmortalwombat)
A new level of awesome. Thank you!
Really impressive stuff, well done! really struggling to kill more than 1 of these cleaning mechs though!
Try stealth, no need to kill them, if you can outsmart them.
well i ended up killing them.. moving past them seemed impossible too because they keep walking round the square and they move so fast I thought my U64 was in turbo mode... now i'm just lost and wondering what's going on... i'll try a bit more!
You're the best guy on earth. One of my first games on C64 was Maze Master on cassette. Now you made a perfect maze game for all c64 gamers. Very fine and thanks for the early Christmas gifit.
