Honestly marvelous. Enough said. I basically leave a review a year and this one deserves it already.

The game is very, very unoptimised, and the state of Matchmaking is bad for a variety of reasons.

2025 update:
At a casual level, the game can be tolerable, at least for compstomps. Online is a mess. Balance is bad and every patch is just chasing the next OP thing. Further, hackers are starting to be a majority, especially from very specific countries. Relic has done nothing to stop this, no matter the amount of reports. I guess it could be considered on life-support, since they hope to sell at least the next battlegroup DLC before pretty much defaulting.


02/03 update:

Balance can be dodgy, but it is not the reason I'm giving it a thumbs down: THE GAME JUST PUT TELEMETRY FOR MARKETING IN. What are they even thinking??? I'll reserve myself the right to switch it back to a thumbs up again, but as it stands, I think the game is going to throw some sillies in the coming months. They better start focusing on the proper things.


Launch Day:

As a CoH veteran playing since 2006 with probably more than 5,000 hours across the board:
The core gameplay is solid. Very solid. Pace could use some minor adjustments but it's a good strategy game.
I don't know about the single player myself, but it's probably "good enough" but I expect it to be rough around the edges?
Is it a masterpiece? No, but I'm certain it'll manage to improve patch after patch EXACTLY like CoH 2 did.

Gameplay is fun. Get it.

It's a great game that will never get old. It took me 7 years and 3 relationships to finish it, and I'd do it all over again. Remote Play makes it more modern than ever and it's worth every single penny. Out of the various LEGO games this is also the most charming. There are bonus goat races in Mordor too, and that's probably one of the game's best features.
